    Thumb Release Hype

So, today I shot a thumb release for the first time in my life. I had no intentions and have always shot a wrist strap release. A buddy of mine saw I was at the indoor range and stopped in. I went to pull arrows and he had disappeared. He comes back with a three finger Carter thumb release and...

Advice to get from Average Hunter to “Bigger Buck” / Mature buck Hunter

I disagree with the large land tract guys. I have found just as many mature bucks in small tracts as I have big woods. Public or private. It all depends what the woods have to offer for food, water and shelter (and doe influence during rut). Also, more often then not, the small public tracts are...

What will you change/improve for next year?

I'm going back to my roots of hunting. Less cam reliance and more ground work. I'll find some "targets" and use my knowledge > camera intel to try to close the deal. Ultimately, after early season meat hunting, closing the deal on a specific buck is more fun to me than just hunting a great area...

The Unofficial Saddle Hunters Tree Climbing Competition!

I think to accurately depict the speed it would have to be separate categories divided by climbing method. There is too many variables between methods IMO. On another note, me personally, I love competition but I would rather take my time setting up that way I am set up exactly how I want to...

    Mountain Bike for Access?

I've rode a mountain bike and a Rambo. The e-bike is the way to go if it's feasible. No sweat, saved time, cools you off on hot days. Mountain bike was hell and nothing but a sweaty mess and I am in good shape.

    Random contest stats

I shot 12 tagged 8. Ones I didn't put a tag on below. 1. 40 yard shot on a doe, dipped the string and rodeo turned. Brisket hit. Live on cam the rest of the season. 2. Another 40 yard shot on a doe, same scenario except scapula hit. Jumped her 9 hours after the hit, she was alive and well, no...

How many deer have you killed?

6 in 2020 and 8 in 2021 adds another 14 to this number. ME, NH, OH now. Actually shot 12 this year but took home 8, the stories are in the Team 8 Thread. So lifetime # around 54 now.

    Planning a return to Ohio

We hunted Morgan/Muskingum County and up towards Coshocton. Ended up staying at Lakeside Motel in Beverly and for the price you can't beat it. I think it was $510 per room (2 beds, hot shower, ice machine, tv, fridge and microwave) for 6 nights. Check out the hole in the wall Motels.
