    Keeping carabiner in place while climbing with rappel line

    I girth hitch a shock cord loop on the carabiner. Once I put the rope in the carabiner, I slide the open part of the loop over the carabiner and close it. It holds it in place and I can pull it down pretty easily.

    I’ve usually got anywhere from 8-12 out. About half on roads to catch poachers, the other half on wildlife. I have used 2-3 brands and have stuck with Moultrie the last few years.

    I would think you would want something steel instead of aluminum. Worst case scenario, it bends instead of snaps. Peztyl Oxan is what I have used.
