    I quit using a gear strap after about 2 seasons. Found it was just easier to attach my pack to the tree via some paracord and leave everything in that. I do use a Heroclip for my bow / rifle attached to same paracord that my pack is attached with. So I guess in a way kind of use a gear...

    Actual gouging. Why I retired that figure 8 and got a different one, didn't feel safe using it any longer. I now use a Petzl Pirana for my decent down.

    Hunting off of rappel rope??

    Unless you hunt in freezing temps shouldn't be an issue. I carry a repel rope due to the fact I hunt in freezing temps. Its a PITA trying to repel down a rope that's been rained on and is now frozen stiff.

    Single stick user here and after a lot of trial and error I have a found a single step amsteel aider attached to the bottom of my climbing stick is the best option and most efficient for me personally. super light, dont have to worry about anything coming off or having to attach for the climb...

    What knee pads do you use for an all day sit?

    I use Arc’s and found if I place them over my base layer and under my outer layers, they work much better and are extremely quite going up the tree vs strapping them to the outside of the leg pants. I do all day sits no problem with them.
