Climbing with tether and swapping to repel.. Why?

I hunt trees with preset sticks on private ground I have access to but also one stick and repel down when hunting public or new locations on private. I’m the type to forget things if I’m constantly switching my gear set up so I prefer to leave my saddle setup with a lineman’s in the left pouch...

    Rope Help

An easy and cheap option if you don’t want to order online or don’t have any climbing shops in your area like myself is to buy a tree stand safety line. They are usually about 25-30 ft of good 10mm rope for around $30 and most of them come with carabiners and sewn or ties loops for friction...

New to one sticking, need help with the repelling.

I gave the Munter hitch a try and it worked great so thanks for the input. Also tied a klemhiest instead of my usual priusik and I get why y’all are saying it’s a superior hitch. Bites fast and is easy to release. I did figure out the mammut last night while hanging my tether from the kitchen...

Aiders for beast mini 20” sticks

Buy you a role of 1 inch tubular webbing and check out diy sportsman’s YouTube video on tying your own aiders. Super cheap and easy to do. I’ve added two step aiders for each of my sticks and they work great!

    New to saddle...couple questions...

I really like the muddy pro sticks. They are a little heavier than other options, but I love how they are are short and compact and the rope cleat attachment system is so easy to use in the tree that’s it’s worth the weight to me. With any stick I would highly recommend looking into adding...

Skinning Deer: Head up or Head down?

I’ve done both and prefer head down. Skin up the inner hind leg, ring around the joint, and skin down to the tail. After taking the clever to the tail bone, I notch two holes in the back hide for my hands, and peel down the back as easy as a banana. Takes about two minutes. Now this is how I...

New to one sticking, need help with the repelling.

Yeah I’m gonna give it another go with the munter hitch as it looks super easy. Wish I would have done more research and learned of that before I bought the mammut. Question for you, do you sit and hunt with that hitch or do you just switch to it to rappel down? And if so what does your process...

New to one sticking, need help with the repelling.

I was using an autoblock but I didn’t like the way it would take a second to constrict and stop my rope from feeding through the mammut so I switched to a prusik cause that’s what I’m familiar with and when I let go of it I stop right there. And I haven’t heard of that hitch before but I will...

New to one sticking, need help with the repelling.

I know I’m late to the game with one sticking but I just learned of it and decided to give it a shot as I’m always looking to be lighter going in. Tried it the first couple times with my normal tether and going up is awesome but coming back down that way is a pain so I’m trying to get the...

    Safety PSA!!

I don’t know exactly it was dark when I climbed down. All my sticks were rock solid on the way up as they always are. When I went to put my weight on the first step of the stick it gave out and slid down the tree I thought maybe the buckle on the strap gave out and loosened up but I put the...

    Safety PSA!!

Just a reminder to always be attached to the tree at all times. I learned my lesson the easy way last night as I was climbing down and my third stick gave out. Thank the Lord I had my linemen’s belt on and just swung into the tree 15 feet off the ground. I was able to hug the tree and shimmy...
