Private pre sets option ideas. Looking for ideas or suggestions.

These platforms weren't hard to build. Gorilla glued all parts including the angles, nothing moves. Ratchet to the tree. Bomb proof if done right. All wood and plywood is treated but wouldn't have to be.

What treestand is this and is it worth fixing

Seems like those pop riveted stands always creaked and popped. Especially when cold. Couldn't trust them to be quiet.

    Preset with no crotch….help please.

Wow, don't want to be a derailleur here but what makes you think you need corn to get deer pictures? It's like trapping, you have to put the camera where deer walk most o ften. Good luck with the preset. Looks like you're in a good area.

    Tab, glove or other

Doesn't matter to me. I shoot with a tab in summer and the shoot with whatever weight glove I need to keep my hands warm when hunting. Of course I'm picky about the gloves I use for hunting. Cloth, leather or synthetic leather fingers. No gripper dots or doodles for sure.

Did I missed something? Custom bowyers just jump up 20% overnight????

I didn't mean to imply you were decrying price increases. I did mean to say that there are a portion of folks in trad archery who think the only reason to make bows, arrows or other handmade products is the love of the sport. I've seen that thought process to much. Starving artists I guess, LOL.

Did I missed something? Custom bowyers just jump up 20% overnight????

And how would anyone make a living, paying the bills, heating a shop, making a second bow cause the 1st one had a flaw in the glass, save money for kids college, retirement, pay self-employment taxes on 25 bucks an hour? I've seen these kinds of threads before. People can excited when a guy...

    Nock pinch revelation

I've found the same thing with broadheads. Three under and press the nock against the upper nock indicator equals terrible arrow flight. Like miss the target completely. I don't use a lower indicator, just don't start by pressing the arrow tight between fingers and upper indicator.

Spring Gobbler hunting with a bow.

From a blind or a really good hiding spot I'll put the hen decoy in the most visible spot, sometimes 20 yards away. The gobbler deke will be placed 5 to 7 yards out facing a 90 degree orientation. If the bird comes all the way in he's broadside at very close range. That's good for a recurve shooter!

Spring Gobbler hunting with a bow.

I'll also mention that I like big broadheads. Tree sharks work well. I haven't killed a turkey in a good bunch of years for a lack of a good place to hunt. I may have solved that this year. I've got permission to hunt a place with good turkey numbers. I'll be using a 3 panel blind and 2 to 4 decoys.

Spring Gobbler hunting with a bow.

Never needed a second shot except the one that got away. Couldn't get a second shot, but I wanted one. Shot through the breast like @boyne bowhunter mentioned. You don't need to disable the wings if you break the hips. One would usually be enough. If you hit them there you should hit guts as...

Spring Gobbler hunting with a bow.

Put your decoys as close as you can if you can not be in direct line of sight of the bird. Once they lock in on the deke is your best chance. I've killed 8 birds out of the 9 I've hit. All with recurves. It's best to hit them low and back. They can't live through a gut shot or taking the legs...

    Montana Spring Bear

I don't know as much about season dates as I did when I lived there. I also only have general ideas of population density based that 1985 to 2010 time period. Things could be different. There were the most bears at that time in the northwest part of the state. Think Kalispell and go west or...

A post for the Moderators… ALSO!!! Who is making bedding cuts on their land?

Pigs and cows grazing/browsing the forest was common practice in Illinois 75 years ago. Some Woodlore still haven't recovered. The only way that works with goats is by rotational grazing and very close monitoring.

Any one used this to tune arrows?

Shoot wood with the right spine. Lots of satisfaction to be gained mastering the nuances of natural fiber arrows.

    First Archery Elk Hunt

The list of qualities that make a good hunting partner is endless. More so on an elk hunt in rough country. And the list is going to be somewhat different for anyone else. But here are some of the characteristics I find essential. 1. A hard-core hunter 2. Early to bed, early (and eager) to...
