You're quick on the draw haha. I deleted my comment almost immediately, realizing I'm the minority in that regard and my opinion really doesn't matter. As others have pointed out, Red owns the site and can do whatever he wants with it. If he chooses to make decisions that push valuable...

For me, it's the principle of the matter. I refuse to pay for the type of content that is free on every other online forum and don't want to be part of a community that gets nickle and dimed. The model for profitable forums has been laid out and copied hundreds of times over. Why you choose to...

The Dangers of Short Static Falls

Plus, some of the dynamic capabilities are decreased temporarily after hangin on the rope. It takes a while for a rope to “rest” and get its bounce back once stretched. Honestly, when you only have a few feet in the system, there’s not much room for give anyway. I’m not sure dynamic would make a...

The Dangers of Short Static Falls

Yeah I realized right after posting that I had worded it weird. Definitely a slick trick, just gotta make sure it stays dressed neatly and on the right side of the biner. Even if its dressed and correctly wrapped, small cord can flip right through a rocklock if you yank the tag up.

Be careful with this. It works great if you keep an eye on the hitch but you can accidently pull the whole knot through the biner and it fails to bite under weight. The smaller the biner, the better. I'll try to make a vid and post it.

The Dangers of Short Static Falls

If your ropeman cuts the sheath, your prusik will probably slide right down the rope with your sheath. Granted, it would probably lower you somewhat gently compared to a free fall :) This is the main reason I don't like ascenders for our uses. There's just no convenient and really safe way to...

The Dangers of Short Static Falls

To be fair, even sketchy setups won't kill you 99% of the time. Even so, it's important to understand the risk so you can be conscious of it and make efforts to minimize it. Like others have pointed out, the damn tree could fall with us attached to it and there's nothing you can do about it...

The Dangers of Short Static Falls

Keep in mind he has tension on the belt at the time of the slip and one foot was still firm on the tree. It would look alot different if it happened as he was flipping the belt up the tree and both feet let loose.

Dude, you read my mind or I read yours! I hadn't seen this post and was laying in bed last night thinking about whether screamers could be useful in our setups. Good on ya!

    Hawk tree seat

Yeah I looked at them but heard it likes to kick out when you push off of it from the side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wouldn’t do that. If you fall, there is a very real chance you could blow the whole system and deck. Like I said before, your tether should connect you directly to the tree.

The Dangers of Short Static Falls

I would not recommend using the steps as your only anchor point. Your tether should connect you directly to the tree, as it’s the least likely element to fail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Ropeman Safety

Be mindful that the 20kn rating is for hauling. Basically, the frame can hold 20kn, you can't put 20kn on the rope when using it as a clamp. It will still cut a sheath around 4-6kn as a clamp. As an ascender/clamp: As a hauler:
