It's been hot and drier than normal around here and I've been seeing decent numbers near water. I set up overlooking a small pond where I saw this guy last year but never had a decent shot at him. The wind was in my favor and I honestly wasn't even expecting to see him. He came in very early about 5-10 minutes after setting up. He was tromping through water when I shot him broadside and a little quartering away. He ran off into some cedars and I lost sight of him. The shot was a little far forward so I backed out for a little over an hour and looked at some shot placement charts. Once I was convinced in my mind the shot was fatal, my wife and I went out and found him laying where I last saw him.@Jtaylor we need the story on that HOSS! Congrats!

Nah, I just like to get out early season. Things change a lot when the crops come out around here and people start pheasant hunting. Thanks though, I appreciate it!Someone’s back must be really sore from carrying the team! Awesome buck, congrats! Jtaylor
