This is how I run mine. With the double aider there's no fooling around.

HFAS, USA Pro, etc - issues?

So my work around to get it Alright - here's what I came up with. I got the RDA elite which as I mentioned gets in a bind sometimes. So I removed the HFAS and put it onto the daisy chain! Verdict is still out but I would put this above the USA Pro. This is because I love that after passing...

HFAS, USA Pro, etc - issues?

I just got an RDA trucker elite in. I like it - however it needs a tender IMHO. At times the knot gets too tight and doesn't want to pass over the daisy smoothly. Mainly where it splices through making it thicker.

I agree with this - knaider/swaider is kind of sketch.. I did find that I much prefer an 1/8" amsteel to the original rope. I essentially use the same knot but would pull a loop through the second time. Then I pulled the tag end it came apart nice and easy. Locked in better than the original...

I did the zip tie thing for a 5 years but I went away from the Knaider Swaider on my setup completely. First I ditched the Swaider as I felt extremely unsafe with it if something went wrong (almost did a few times) and then did the zip ties on the knaider. Then I moved to a double aider girth...

HFAS, USA Pro, etc - issues?

Just saw this thread as I'm not on here more. Any updates to your thoughts on this or others thoughts? The RDA Elite looks sweet and I like that it locks in the daisy chain. I'm not as familiar with this stuff, is the 1/8" daisy on the normal RDA a 1/8 but doubled up since it's a daisy?

I recently switched from WE steps and knaider to Lattitude carbon sticks with double aiders. The reason I did this is to reduce the amount of connections to the tree. I find that each connection is time and has safety associated with it. I try to get up a try as simply and therefore quickly as I...

    Wild edge stepps bag options

I have had them bend. It's been 100% my own fault though. Too much tension and not set right. They told me to just bend it back and I've had no issues. They don't do well on soft trees. I'll say that. With some of the newer lighter sticks with easy attachments make me think I'll upgrade in the...

I switched my WE steps to 2 step amsteel aiders this year. I much, much prefer it over the Knaider Swaider I ran for 3 seasons. Quieter, simpler, I feel safer and actually lighter.

Where Do Platforms Go From Here?

A few clarifications here.. I didn't say designs have already become lackluster. I said they will become lackluster. I think we agree on the platform costs going down in the future. Carbon will come out, Aluminum will go down, carbon will be out for awhile and then it will go down as more come...

Where Do Platforms Go From Here?

Honestly, cost will be the biggest change. Cost will go down as the supply increases to meet demand. Designs will become lack luster as there is only so much you can do. All designs are getting better so there is less massive improvement from one to the other.

Proper foot wear for back country

I've had great luck with mine - Reasonably priced, super comfortable & quality. I've got the previous version of the Mtn Trainer lite & have countless miles on them. At least 7 years old now & they have been the best boot I've owned. I recommend getting a synthetic vs suede or leather. The...

Proper foot wear for back country

I agree with you that if conditions are completely dry - then it's better to not wear a waterproof membrane. It really depends on the conditions. Everything is a trade off - waterproofing vs breathability is a prime example. But the comprise provided by quality membranes are worth it for most...

Proper foot wear for back country

I know this is an old thread... but I'm going to disagree with this wholeheartedly. While the extent of breathability is limited & all breathable gear will wet out eventually. I've tried Goretex, EVent, Polartech, Kuiu Chugach, Yukon & probably a few more. Most of them are pretty damn waterpoof...
