    Tethered Rope Size

From someone with about as much saddle experience as you, so take it for what it’s worth, I would look at using a different hitch that self tends instead of a prusik on your tether. I bought some 7mm sterling accessory cord and tied a soft sticht. I’ve hung on it in my backyard and it is so much...

    Platow Pack Initial Thoughts

It sounds like most of you have used it and have decided to move on. Maybe I should have done more research before buying one lol. I actually think I’ll like it though. I prefer a fanny pack over a backpack if I can get by with it because I hate having a sweaty back. The Platow is a good middle...

    Platow Pack Initial Thoughts

Yeah, the front magnetic pocket is pretty insecure. It’ll likely go unused for me, but there’s plenty of room elsewhere to store what I need I think.

    Platow Pack Initial Thoughts

I just got a new Platow Pack and thought I’d post my initial thoughts on it and see if anyone else had likes or dislikes they would share. Anytime I’m researching a product before buying, I’m hoping to find threads like this, so hopefully it’ll help someone in the future. - My first thought...

    XOP X2 Reviews

Thanks for the link. I can’t figure out how to search the forum for anything on these since XOP and X2 have too few characters for the search function. Edit: searched this site with Google and found several posts to look through

    XOP X2 Reviews

I’m looking to cut some weight and replace my hawk helium mini sticks. The XOP X2’s are billed to be 26oz and are under $200, so they seem like a no brainer. However, I don’t see many people talk about them on here. I see a lot of talk over more expensive and sometimes heavier sticks. So my...

    Anybody out squirrel hunting?

Struck out last Saturday evening. Only saw one and missed. I’ll be back out this Saturday morning for redemption.

    Anybody out squirrel hunting?

I got a limit in KY Christmas Eve morning while doing some deer scouting. Headed back out this afternoon to try and do it again.

    Rifle hunting in a saddle

If the left is too much movement, hang it on the right? Hold it the whole time resting across your bridge?

    must have turkey calls?

I would start with a pot call. I’ve called turkey in with a Woodhaven Crystal and a cheap HS Strut pot call, so anything along the price spectrum will work if you’re around the right bird and have the right cadence. Cadence is the most important thing in my opinion. Look up videos of live hens...

    First saddle experience!

If you still use a climber occasionally, look up Third Hand Archery stabilizer straps. They connect the top and bottom pieces while climbing and once at height you cinch them down and they lock the stand down. A climber is very stable and locked in once they’re cinched.

    First saddle experience!

I really like my climber and feel more secure in it than a hang on since it has a front bar and I added stabilizer straps to it, but I still don’t really enjoy standing up in it. I’ve never been a big fan of heights but always seemed to be fine in a treestand until I had a sketchy experience on...

    First saddle experience!

I’m brand new to saddle hunting and finally got to play around with my saddle and EDP platform in the backyard. I think I’m going to really enjoy this! I was worried that the EDP would be too small, but even with my size 12 muck boots on, I could stand up and turn around. Though not very...

    Friction Hitches

I’m just now getting in saddle hunting and today was my first time ever playing around with it on a tree, so I’m not sure what the baseline is, but I was very happy with the bite and how it tended on my tether. One thing I did not care for was how long it stretched out once loaded. Even with my...

    Friction Hitches

How’s this soft sticht look? It seems to hold and tend ok but I haven’t put my full body weight on it yet. 11mm tether and 7mm sterling accessory cord.

    Tethered Rope Size

My “starter kit” came with 11mm, which doesn’t seem that big on paper, but man are they bulky. If I knew what I knew now and was piecemealing a set, I would look hard at smaller ropes, at least for my tether. I can see the advantage of a larger diameter lineman’s as it won’t dig into bark as...

The New, New Gear. 2025 Edition

I took that 45lbs to just be when the lighter foam starts to compress into the heavier foam. I don’t think he was implying that most mobile setups weigh that much. But with everyone and their brother self filming and bringing multiple camera arms and cameras, I could see how someone could get to...
