    Official Florida Saddle Hunters Thread

I have an old flat bottom 16’ Carolina skiff. I know it would be fine on calmer days. Would it be too risky on rougher days?

Saddle Flaooza…… Aka Florida Saddle Hunter Meet up for 2025!!!

Does anyone have a Dryad Drey you can bring. I’d like to check that out. I think Jaybo brought one a few years back, but I never tried it out.

How are Bullman Platform steps for climbing?

I didn’t realize you were using Daisy chains. Looks good. The way I use the truckers hitch on a single rope works well with a platform or hang on, but not so well with the steps. Thanks for posting guys.

How are Bullman Platform steps for climbing?

Please share how you will finish the truckers hitch. I put together a Frankenstein set of steps to see if I like the system. I used a traditional truckers hitch, but didn’t like how I was finishing them off. Trying to put a half hitch in them was aggravating me and taking too much time. I’m not...

description/review of amsteel buckleless treehopper step climbing method after 20+ hunts

Do you ever hunt out of a lock on stand? If so how is this system for hanging one? I’m about 50/50 saddle, hang on. I’d like my method to accommodate both styles. I know it can be done, but is it a major pain in the rear?

description/review of amsteel buckleless treehopper step climbing method after 20+ hunts

Ah. That’s makes sense now. Thank you guys for the response. I’ve been wanting to try out steps for climbing, but they’re kinda pricey for a step and a rope in my opinion. I have five steps. 3 xop steps that were on a ring of steps ratchet strap, a Bullman step I picked up from a saddle meetup...

Are you using this as a one step aider? I think I must be missing something. It looks like long stepping distance.

Thanks for the response. I think I’m going to grab me a set. Just hope they don’t end up in the closet.

How are Bullman Platform steps for climbing?

Are you still using them? Did you figure out the slippage when they were wet? Was the friction hitch too loose or do you think it was the wet conditions?

How are Bullman Platform steps for climbing?

Has anyone used the platform steps on pine trees? I’m also concerned about leaning trees. I find myself in a lot of both. I’m so tired of carrying sticks around, but I always end up trying to figure out how I’m going to carry them after trying every other climbing method.

Who uses a ring of steps?

I’ve been getting more solid setups since my last post. I haven’t hunted in the chunky type pine bark again. This was rock solid. I’ve been paying closer attention to step placement and tightening the ratchet strap as tight as possible. Sometimes it feels like it’s going to break. Fingers...
