    Arrow weight advice.

I shoot 175 grain iron will single bevel. I chose weight because that is what my bow shot the best. I used the ranch fairy test kit from ethics archery, and paper tuned all the different weights and picked the heaviest one that shot well. Which was 175. That being said, my advice is go...

2025 Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

I finally broke in my new jump rope last night. It has been awhile since I’ve used one, and let me just say holy crap. I forgot how intense of a workout it is. Back in my military days I used to spend about 45 minutes in the gym with a medicine ball, a jump rope and dark side of the moon. I...

2025 Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

I finally replaced my trusty jump rope that I’ve had for probably close to 20 years. Hadn’t been used in awhile, trying to motivate myself to get back to my old routine of jump rope/medicine ball workout. I had a routine I would do while I was in the military, I would listen to dark side of...

I do. Having my weight into that rope all the time checks a box for me. A tree stand where my weight is only in that rope if I screwed up, no thank you.

    2025 Sheds & Deads

First picture was a hammer I found in the morning, second picture is the match I found in the afternoon about a mile walk away, straight line distance on the map is .58 miles. Used the wide angle lens to take a picture of them together, which I regret because they look odd. 11 miles , 4 sheds...

    LIVE from the saddle 2025

Hey there’s a new one of these live from the saddle! It was cold out, it snowed a lot, I saw a lot of deer and only had one button buck within range. He got a pass. I learned that actual gloves would be useful coming down. My fingers were frozen coming out of that tree! I usually only wear...

    Addicted to making sausage!

I have an Amazon grinder, mega force 3000 or some ****. It’s fine and has chewed through 10 or so deer and a crap load of pork with no problem. If I was to do it again, I’m getting an LEM, or equivalent. I have an lem 5 lb stuffer. Absolutely get the stuffer if you’re doing links. A grinder...

    LIVE from the Saddle 2024

4 bucks ran past me for whatever reason, last one was a no question shooter. This guy was 30 seconds behind the first group. No buck tag, or this fellas picture would have been of a different sort. 30 degree morning. Trying out some alpaca socks that were a Christmas gift. Zero insulation...

    Gear you liked/disliked 2024

Once you go cap, you don’t go back. I have a trail boss with a 6.5 bed and a leer on top. I made a set of drawers, and a cot fits perfectly in the long bed. It turned my truck into a pretty nice adventure buggy. After having a cap I just don’t get how people can have a truck and not have one...

What’s everyone one wear when’s it COLD?

I am fully on the battery heated train this year. I’m 40 years old and the dreaded, “I don’t stay as warm as I used to” is hitting me hard. Battery socks and battery vest is very nice. Other than that, wind proof layer, and merino wool are nice. And if you’re looking for the best hooded...

    Ironwill Single Bevel Experiences

I’ve been using an IW single bevel 175 grain for the last three seasons. First one I killed 5 deer with it. Last deer the arrow broke, and I lost the broadhead. Weird situation, but I did recover the deer. Last year I killed four deer, total yardage for all four was probably 100-150 yards. Two...

Big family get together. Venison cooking ideas

I will typically corn a top or bottom round around Christmas to share with the fam. I slice it up before I head out. More of an appetizer type thing, not a full blown meal, but it always goes over well. I’ll take some triscuits, homemade sauerkraut and some good mustard to go with it.
