    Ol Nutterbuster gettin it done!

I did my first gutless method pack out this year on my archery buck. I definitely didn't get as much off of it as I would cutting it up in my shop, but it went ok. Maybe I'll check out that clay hayes and some other videos and see if there are any tips that could make it go better.

2026 getting/staying in shape motivation thread

I took the wife to Key Largo for a few days without the kids before baby 4 arrives in late April. Got an amazing brunch and dod some walking with her this morning, then dropped her off at the beach and went for a run since its 75 and sunny here and its been single digits and snow back home in...

    Shot distance

I shoot a three pin Trophy Ridge Hotwire site. 20 and 30 yd fixed pins, and my third pin is a slider that I set from 40-80. I've never adjusted the bottom pin for a deer, but I did actually use my bottom pin at 40 yards for the buck I shot this year. 90% plus of my bow kills have been 20 yds...

2026 getting/staying in shape motivation thread

Yeah, we would use one a lot in the colder months. I prefer to run outside, and my free weight setup is all out in my unheated shop so I've really been looking to get some stuff setup in my basement to workout when the temps drop down in the deep winter. Current plan is probably a treadmill...

2026 getting/staying in shape motivation thread

Left my house yesterday for the first time since the snow started on Saturday, and made sure to stop at my office and get a quick 3 miles in on the treadmill. I really need to break down and get one for at home but I keep putting it off since I feel like all the quitters selling theirs on...

    Steaming Euro Mounts

Yeah, that's how I normally handle it. Unfortunately, I got busy after I killed my buck this year and left it sitting on the apron of my shop for a bit too long before skinning and it got kinda gross.

2026 getting/staying in shape motivation thread

Mother nature has put a lot of my work on pause the last week with the nasty cold snap and big snow storm over the weekend. Did want to post about my newest obsession on the clean eating side. I was gifted a Ninja Creami ice cream maker for Christmas, and it makes a very nice protein shake ice...

    Steaming Euro Mounts

Yeah, I bought a plastic Buck Boiler that seems to be the commercial version of what youre describing. I did one skull in it this year, but I left it simmering too long I think and the nose bones started to break up. Still did good to cook off the meat/hide and knock down the stink.

    Big storm coming

Ended up with about 13" here in my part of central Indiana. We are generally pretty prepared for snow, but it was definitely way more than we usually get in one event. My Kawasaki Prairie 360 and 42" plow felt undersized for the first snowfall in the 3 years since we moved out in the country...

Snuck out after picking up breakfast for the wife and kids and put in another 5k. It was 28 and probably 15mph winds, so it was a bit of a slog but feeling better every time out. Thanks for the morning motivation!

2026 getting/staying in shape motivation thread

I need to embrace the early morning run into my routine. When we lived in town, I normally ran between 430 and 6 before leaving for work. Once we bought our house out in the country, I stopped running in the dark and started using that time for strength training in my shop.

    Garmin Instinct Solar Thread

That's a nice summary. I'll have to look around for options, but after seeing that I'd definitely lean toward the 3 Solar 45mm or a 2x solar over the newer amoled. I just don't really need any of the stuff it offers, and I like that the 3 solar is still more like a traditional watch with smart...

    Garmin Instinct Solar Thread

I've been looking at the Instinct 3, do you guys think I would be better suited looking for a used instinct 2? Are the upgrades worth the price difference?

Kudos to you. The idea of running in sandals makes me violently cringe, but I know we are definitely adaptable. Glad to hear it helped you out with your PF. I've known a few people that got absolutely wrecked by it.

2026 getting/staying in shape motivation thread

I've been sick most of the last two weeks with the flu first and then a sinus infection, so training over the last week has taken a back burner to rest and trying to recover. The positive in all of it is that I've continued to keep my diet locked in and hit my goals for protein/calories/ water...

2026 getting/staying in shape motivation thread

Yeah, I live in Johnson County, and work in Indy, so the Indy Mini was definitely on the radar as I was making goals. I just wasn't quite ready to commit to run the Mini in May given that I'm still around 5k in my comfort range. I could definitely finish the Mini now (I hiked a tough 10 without...

    2026 ATA

That's probably true, but in the current climate all of the new stuff gets posted to socials from the "Influencers" that are at ATA and get criticized all the same.

2026 getting/staying in shape motivation thread

Forgot about this thread. After a pretty good 2024, I let the first 2/3 of 2025 kick my butt. I went from a strong, lean 225 up to almost 250 (which means I probably was 250 and avoided the scale) in August. I buckled back in in August on cleaning up my diet and currently sit at 228 this...

Who hangs their cameras 10' or so up in the tree?

I normally hang them between knee to waist high, but did have a couple get messed with last year. This year, I hung them higher, at about 7 feet to get them up a bit. Unfortunately, I messed up the angle and haven't had the quality or number of pictures I normally get in these same areas. I...

    Hunting Indiana

You should be set with the Non-Res. Archery License if you want to bow-hunt with just one tag. If you had plans to come back beyond your visit in October, the Bundle License would make sense. It gives you a buck and two doe tags, and covers all of the legal methods of take and seasons if you...
