Can anyone think of a good DIY method to make the neck of this poncho adjustable?

I ordered the Forloh ponch last night, then read the review below, then immediately cancelled the order due to the neck collecting water. https://sectionhiker.com/review-forloh-3l-waterproof-packable-poncho/ It looks like a pocho with small enough arms and slim enough that you could shoot a...

    Best “lightweight” packable rain jacket?

    I agree. I wrote this a while back. https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/how-rain-proof-is-my-gear.64875/post-945102

    Best “lightweight” packable rain jacket?

How backable and does it have to be breathable? Lightheart gear make a super waterproof and super packable jacket, but it is loud and does not break but has pit zips.

    Public Land Disturbance

The person that told me that was a chemistry professor I had for classes decades ago. His parents were both out rifle hunting and wearing orange, someone shot and killed them both with 2 separate shots, it was investigated by LEO, and no charges were brought. I would think involuntary...

    Public Land Disturbance

I'm all for it, but just be smart about it. I recently turned in an illegal bait site on public, but it's a huge area, I was not on the camera near it, I had never seen the hunter, and I personally know the area superintendent and I contacted him directly.

Some hunters don't like these discussions because it casts a bad light, but I think we should be giving the impression of policing our own.

Michigan Bowhunter Takes Bullet to the Chest

I would be all for disallowing anything but shotguns in squirrel season. We can use 22 WMR and 17 HMR here also. A 22 WMR is a very serious firearm and folks have no business using one when folks don't have to wear orange and they are firing up into trees.

    Public Land Disturbance

I'm probably a bit biased because I was almost attacked leaving public land by a father/son duo that wrongly accused me of trespassing. And then a year or so later, someone fired a 22 LR over my head while I was in a saddle, and I think it was the son. Also, I live in WV, where in some areas...

    Public Land Disturbance

Be very careful. Since you care about this spot, it seems you'll be back there, alone, and around people that do activities requiring weaponry. People that blatantly break laws like this do not think like you and I do. You cannot predict or control their behavior or even understand their...

Michigan Bowhunter Takes Bullet to the Chest

Nothing surprises me anymore. This year, I'm wearing an orange hat during bow season (even bought an orange beanie) and have orange flagging on my pack tied all over. I might start putting an orange vest on my pack and then wrap around the tree. I was almost shot by a squirrel hunter with a...

Best method to hang a stand/platform

Here's what I do: 1. I have a long Nite Ize gear tie on the post of my platform, I wrap that around my lineman's lanyard and this holds it roughly in position by the tree so I can work with 2 hands 2. I never use anything with a metal buckle for my attachment, you can always find a way to use...

How rain proof is my gear?

What about during intermittent rain and any movement before and after? Also, has any checked the motion sensor during the rain? Could it be like a laser rangefinder in the fog? Meaning deer might be there and it's not triggering. Of course, pics of raccoons and other hunters, etc during rain...

    Packing a hunt arsenal mag3

I've always lashed my platform to the outside of my pack using the bungee cord loops with the balls. I cut one bungee loop short and leave the ball on it and attach it to the front bottom of my pack. Then I remove the ball from a longer loop (you can just buy shock cord and steal the balls...

How rain proof is my gear?

I'm very disappointed in rain wear and waterproof boots, and I blame it partly on market forces and how consumers have been led astray, combined with gear-pride, justifying money spent, and placebo effect. Gore Tex is fragile and has failure points. 1. full grain leather boots with the leather...

    Reading on stand

On this particular farm I have permission to hunt, the best kill spot is where 3 old logging roads converge and there aren't many trees to pick from there. I've killed a lot of bucks right there. Just gotta be more still next time. I have worn the hat mirror before that @Nutterbuster...

    Reading on stand

I do read on my phone. But I try not to when my back is exposed. I was busted the other day because 2 does snuck up behind me. When I put my phone away and looked around, it alerted them. That's the only disadvantage I see to a saddle, if you are somewhere where deer have a decent chance of...
