    Live from the saddle 2020

Up in a tree enjoying the view. Been a slow rut so far by me with crazy weather but got a nice shot off at this buck two days ago. First deer taken with my 758 grain arrows. 12yd lung and liver quartering to shot and he didn't run at all so I'm pretty sure my old 350 grain arrows with disposable...

    New and improved jx3

Same here. I adjusted my leg straps right after I unboxed it and haven't moved them since. My two favorite upgrades on gen2 are the linesman belt loops and metal waist/leg buckles. I attached a dogbone to my gen1 linesmans loop to extend it and make it easier to access which worked pretty...

    Rappel device testing with oplux

Awesome, glad it works for you! How many wraps did you end up being successful with? I use 5 wraps on the hollow block so wondering what worked best with the beal jammy. And I really started liking the twin gate biner. It's super simple to attach/detach one handed in the dark once you get the...

I'm pretty sure the cheap ones on Amazon are counterfeit. I read that you can tell the difference by looking at the ferrule. Read up on the Amazon 1 star reviews. I think that's where I read it. The blades break constantly on the real ones, but I've never had the ferrule or broadhead break. But...

    Arrow Build. Vanes?

I don't know the difference between static and dynamic spine, but yes, shorter arrow = stiffer arrow. And as little as a quarter inch can make the difference between perfectly tuned and too stiff or too week. My 300sp and 340sp arrows are cut at different lengths (with different tip weights) to...

    Arrow Build. Vanes?

Agreed. And it was a cool video with straws! Ashby's report talks about how the weight at rear of arrow affects it and uses a brick in his example. "Extreme FOC arrows have at least two design features which reduce shaft flex on impact. These are: 1. Less arrow mass is towards the rear...

    Nutterbuster's tether rig?

That's an awesome idea. As long as it packs down smaller than my winter layers lol Sent from up in a tree

    Saddle upgrade, rappelling stuff

That's what I do. Overkill? That's a personal decision. I keep the main prusik loosely connected above the atc, connected to my bridge while rappelling down. Just make sure not to wrap your hand around it while rappelling because your natural instinct is to grab it if you start falling which...

    Bowstring?

This video was enough evidence for me to order one from Catfish and find out for myself. Based on Mike's response, he seemed to agree with it. Sent from up in a tree

    Saddle upgrade, rappelling stuff

One thing I noticed in your pic is that it looks like the atc is in low friction mode. If you find yourself slipping, turn it around so the "teeth" inside are facing down and bighting on the tag end. Edit: looks like you've tried it both ways in different pics. Sent from up in a tree

    Treehopper ROS is amazing!

Here's the video on filing down one of the wings so they nest with a strap in them. And link to the thread discussing it. https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/treehopper-steps-on-the-strap-nesting.24214/ Sent from up in a tree

    Bowstring?

For anyone following the thread about how twist direction of the string affects rotation of the arrows, Mike from Catfish said he can twist the strings counterclockwise for the natural arrow rotation to be clockwise. One of the 1nestly videos says Rogue twists all their strings counterclockwise...

You ever see paracord tear like this?

I used 550 paracord, quadrupled over, to hang hammocks in two of my kids rooms this past Christmas and the sheath has started tearing all over the place. They only weigh about 60 and 70lbs but I'm sure they shock load it quite a bit by jumping on it or sitting with a friend. Don't see any damage...

*update with results* 580 grains of goodness

Interesting. I've been shooting them for the past 5 years and never noticed them being noisy. Killed lots of deer with them but also snapped/bent many blades on them. You shooting helical or offset vanes? Sent from up in a tree
