    Do you eat Feral Hogs?

Over here, over the big pond, it's just now (pushing) hunting season for wild boar again. We also prefer the smaller ones (up to about 50 kg without offal) for eating. The so-called "rauschigen" boars (those that take part in reproduction and are full of testosterone, usually the bigger and...

    Figure of 8 progress capture???

I think it might can invert, but the prusik should stop the fall.

    Figure of 8 progress capture???

Why not try it out, of course with some precautions and from lower heights. Just so I can say I've tried it and it doesn't work for me. And of course for the fun trying something new.

    Figure of 8 progress capture???

    Figure of 8 progress capture???

Thank you for this serious warning, I will definitely take note of this and carefully test the whole thing first. The impact after 12 feet of free fall is definitely no fun. I hope you haven't been hurt too much. But how can that happen?

    Figure of 8 progress capture???

I think I'll give it a try (maybe with a prusik or something like that above). Like we say over here: no risk, no fun :sunglasses: And it is one more option to climb and decent a tree

    Looking for diy platform ideas.

After I can't weld, I made my platform out of wood (my first one) that I had lying around. I cut the angles out of an old step of a wooden staircase (~ 5 cm glued wood), the platform is an old shelf of a shoe cabinet, about 1" thick (approx. 30x30 cm). Two M10 screws (slightly smaller ones would...

Greetings from Germany (although I'm not so new here)

One of our traditions, blowing the hunting bag with the hunting horns. Each species has its own signal. On the right-hand side stands the hunt leader with the "breaks" (small spruce branches), which are then handed over to the successful shooters.

Greetings from Germany (although I'm not so new here)

This is the Hochsitz (high seat) from my previous fotos I have to admit that this is one of our higher seats (and the most uncomfortable because the wind is blowing through it). I've got older photos from an other hunting lease where the seats were much more airtight, if you want I can post...

Greetings from Germany (although I'm not so new here)

Hi, first of all: Thanks to all for your hearty welcome ! As I said before, saddle hunting is pretty unknown in Germany (except for a few crazy guys who do it) . In addition, it looks dangerous to climb a tree like this, and the accident insurance (UVV) does not know it either, so...

Greetings from Germany (although I'm not so new here)

One of my kills at a driven hunt, we call them things Überläufer (Ueberlaeufer) which is the term for a wild boar up to two years old. This is a young male (Keiler). I would describe our terrain as wooded hills, because the highest tops are about 500 m above sea level. Nothing steep. Here is...

Greetings from Germany (although I'm not so new here)

We have a bowhunting association that tries to legalize bowhunting again. But after a Danish madman killed five people with a bow and arrows in Norway last week and seriously injured others, it will be very likely become even more difficult.

Greetings from Germany (although I'm not so new here)

Hi, hunting with a bow in Germany is illegal because someone added the ban when the hunting law was changed in the 1970s (actually without sufficient scientific research, as far as I know). Back then the bow technology was not as good and efficient as it is today. Efforts are underway to allow...

Only a medium sized driven hunt. At our big hunt we used to be (before covid-19) about 100 - 120 hunters and about 30 - 40 drivers

Greetings from Germany (although I'm not so new here)

Most hunters over here don't drive big trucks. They have not enough maneuverability at our small ways in the woods. A Suzuki Jimny, a Lada Niva or such are much better for this.

I just looked through my computer and found that I only have older pictures of hunts. January 2018 at the highest point in my hunting area (with a highseat in the background): same place in the summer from the highseat: Gathering for a driven hunt:

Greetings from Germany (although I'm not so new here)

Hi, because our wild boars are so dangerous, the hunters roam through the woods like this: and the hunting helpers like this: (just kidding, those guys are from a local reenactment group). What kind of photos do you want to see? From driven hunts or our normal hunting from high seats?
