    Old Timer 69OT Sharpening Advise

Yeah this was my second set of diamond sharpening stones. What kind of pressure do you use? What angles? I've tried heavy and light pressure. I seem to get a little better edge from light pressure. I've tried 25 and 20 degree angles. The results seem to be the same for angles.

    Old Timer 69OT Sharpening Advise

I bought an old timer 69OT off amazon. This thing is not sharp. For the life of me I can't get an edge on the blade. I've tried whet stones, diamond sharpening stones and WorkSharp belt style sharpener. The WorkSharp works the best, but still no where near where I think it should be. The knife...

    Little Debbie's

Wasn't my favorite combo, but moon pie and RC is a definite childhood memory of mine.

    Wicked Ridge Invader M1

Stop doing this! Hunters trying to be good here. I really like that this is light weight and compact.

    Blade sharpening...WOW

Thanks for this. I just got my Old Timer Trapper last week. The reviews said it comes razor sharp, but I think the edge needs some attention.

    What's everyone reading?

About half way through 'The Old Man and the Tree: A different Approach to Deer Hunting' by Barry Wensel. This has been one of my favorite books on deer hunting so far. I usually try to read one or two a year from different authors to gain different perspectives. The other one I read this year...

    Virginia group chat/possible meet up?

Not sure about everyone else's area, but all the gates around Botetourt, Montgomery and Craig seem to be closed until Spring Gobbler. I'm no shed hunter, nor am I a Spring Gobbler hunter. I do both but it always ends in a scouting session for me too.

Packable wader/hip boot for quick crossings

Just a thought. I've never tried it, but couldn't you punch your boot through a contractor bag and then tight bungee around the ankle? You could loose bungee the thigh. Really all we are trying to do is a quick prevent water from coming over the top the boot.

    2024 Off-Season Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

For me, I've been working out since I was 16. I keep it up so my arthritic body doesn't turn to a block of concrete. For about the past year, I've added several stretching exercises. When ever I get a break, stretch whatever is or isn't hurting. It's really helping. Some knowledge I learned...

What will you test or tinker?

I'll be trying, probably after scouting and spring gobbler, 2tc.

    Favorite time to scout?

My favorite time to scout is right now! This time of year is AWESOME! You can easily determine what part of the season the sign was laid. They are still in late season quarters, so bonus if you kick one up or find a fresh shed. (Scout the area and mark it for late season next year.) No crawly...

    Need Advice on the Endgame

I used to have the same issue with firearms. What was happening was after the bead was on vitals as I was squeezing the trigger I was pulling my head up to get a better view of the vitals, which was also pulling the firearm off the target. I've taught myself to look through the target and don't...

    Spypoint issues and answers

I have 2 spypoint. One is awesome and gets great battery life. The other literally goes through a set of batteries every 2 days. Hadn't had time to mess with the second camera, but since it's a cell cam, I believe it does firmware updates automatically. I know it has one from November of this...

Keeping carabiner in place while climbing with rappel line

If I understand your issue correctly, a fender washer or two works. Do a youtube search for "Tether lock". You'll get a bunch of ideas, while trying to sell you the ohm, and maybe that's the solution. I just like trying cheap every day fixes before purchasing.

    Boots you liked/disliked 2023

Thorogood snake boots. These things were affordable, surprisingly light weight and comfortable. Another surprise was they were not hot during the early season, and so far warm in the late season. Took a few hunts to break in. My original thought was to wear them in early season and then switch...
