    Deer and water

I've hunted near creeks and ponds for decades and the only deer I've seen drinking are real young ones and wounded ones. I think they get most of their water from sources such as the uprooted trees and split trees mentioned above as well as from stumps and dew on vegetation.

Are some rubber boots better with ground scent?

Doe are great eating. They have become my target animals.

Are some rubber boots better with ground scent?

I spray my boots well with Dead Downwind field spray and swipe a stick of Evercalm along the outside of each sole. I've been doing this for 5 years and haven't had a single deer pause on my incoming trail yet.

    DOG CONTROL

Sometimes it does more good to talk to the dog than to talk to the dog's owner.

    Serrated broadheads?

Some of the bows used today would be capable of killing deer with a blunt on a flu flu but my bows need broadheads that are strong and super sharp so I intend to stay away from the newest gimmicks.

Who uses the notch v3 quickly?

They are well made and very stout. I have no hesitation hanging from them. I use one for tether and a separate one for rappel.

    Serrated broadheads?

I learned my lesson on broadheads in the 70's when Browning came out with the Serpentine. It doesn't matter how sharp it is if the design is poor. You can get by with more with heavier poundage bows but in the long run stay with a proven design and shaving sharp to kill quickly.

    Serrated broadheads?

I worked with S-7 and D-2 tool steels for many years and made tons of perforating dies and punches from them. The S-7 has just slightly less edge retention but due to it's remarkable shock resistance it's much more durable. S-7 makes an excellent broadhead and VPA has some great ones that I use.

    Question

Just my opinion, but I will not use any equipment from Amazon or Ebay for life support functions. You have to decide for yourself if it's worth the risk.

Private pre sets option ideas. Looking for ideas or suggestions.

Many of we time experienced hunters used wooden platforms for decades. They work and never had one that squeaked. We had a few tree palaces that were an absolute joy to sit in. We used 2 x 6 wood and pole barn nails with 3/4" plywood floors. The cost of lumber would probably be more than a...

    Preset with no crotch….help please.

I haven't noticed any appreciable stretch when used on presets. They really aren't bearing any weight to speak of, just a few pounds of rope.

    DIY umbrella

I feel for you hunters in the high rainfall states. I have an aversion to skinning wet animals even though I used to get some really close shots stalking in a light rainfall. I am fortunate to be able to obtain enough venison while staying dry these days.
