    To one stick or not

Started last year and learned on 3 long helium sticks, first time hunting public land, and wanted to be more mobile. On my private land we don't have to walk far and can drive up to where we want. 3 long sticks are heavy and awkward on a back pack, then if you get a deer it's more weight to...

    UltimAider

Just sewed up a three step aider for my helium one stick. This would be easy enough to make and all the parts are purchasable by the do-it-yourselfer. Slick idea though. Only really need to adjust one time so if you already know your step length and how high you want to go, then the...

You can tape a toothpick to the front and see if sights are for you.

    large size stick mounted platform

I like the size of that lone wolf and that it is movable. Added 2 straps on my helium short with an artesian platform mounted backwards away from the tree. Just need to stitch up my aiders and figure out step distance.

    large size stick mounted platform

I guess if your larger platform pivoted up out of the way while climbing up past it and then kick it down to stand on wouldn't be so bad. Fixed position means you are working off to the side of it as you climb.

    Any One Stickers from MO

Well I am also starting one sticking after using 3 helium long stick last year. Got my helium short almost done with a platform on top of the stick and my repel rope ready to go. Just need to finish sewing up my aiders. Looking to lighten my load after hunting some public land. I am over by st...

    Trad bow and EZV sight

There is a Das sight ring on 3rivers that has different shaped loops for different drops and ranges. You sight the loop in for the middle range and then bracket the target in the loop for long and short ranges.

    Trad bow and EZV sight

I put single brass pin sights on my bows and it helped me with my gaps immediately. With not having a reference point in the front of the bow, I had inconsistencies in the shot. Now when I shoot my bows without a sight, the gaps are more consistent and natural for me. Have been shooting 10-12...

Starting the road of traditional bow, what do you recommend for beginner to focus on with limited time and budget?

I started with a samick sage 30# and 45# limbs. 30s for practice and 45 for hunting. Shoots and sets up really easy. Very quiet once you get arrows and string sorted out.

Starting the road of traditional bow, what do you recommend for beginner to focus on with limited time and budget?

Get a copy of "shooting the stick bow" covers everything about traditional/olympic style archery. Consider it the bible of learning archery.

    AAE Trad Vanes

The trad vanes are super thin and flexible. Regular vanes are thicker and hard since compounds mostly use drop away rests and high speeds, so no contact with the bow or rest. Recurve/longbows have fixed rests or off the shelf so the feathers/trad vanes may make contact with the bow and throw off...

    Bolts for private land trees

Mcmaster carr has tons of bolts and can be bought in quantity. Just have to do a little digging through their sight.

    Amsteel Bowstring

You can wrap the loops with yarn and is a form of "padding" much like serving loops in an endless string.

Mini Stick Platforms - OOAL vs. Artisan

Contemplating this right now. The artisan looks better flipped around. Bought a set of mini hawks and thinking of taking the 4th stick and making a one stick platform setup. Have treehopper ros now and works alright, just more adjustment/fiddle factor when setting up. Only really hunt for 3-4...

    Hawk helium stick modification

Forget sanding and cutting the stock suction cups, they suck and will still break off. Just get some rubber suction cup/buttons designed to hold camper doors open. They are actually made of rubber and are more pliable. They snap together and come apart a lot easier. Just need 2 pairs to hold...

    Treehopper ROS is amazing!

So if using the stick with a platform or worried about kickout from side pressure, why not add a second strap near the bottom to help secure it? I use just the stock strap on my heliums and tie the knot around the button instead of using the spring buckles. Extra strap wouldn't use that much weight.

    ILF bows

1/2" works good on the ones cut further away from center. I have 3/8" ones for closer to center bows. Get the furniture felt pads from Lowes. They come in several sizes, colors, and thicknesses. Plenty cheap to buy a bunch of different ones. Get some set screws incase the threads on the riser...
