    Make it make sense

Are you canting the bow. If so knock high or low will make it appear left or right. Also a big issue with bareshafting is trying to watch the arrow. Head pops up and crazy things happen. Relax and shoot smooth.

    Saddle vs stand

The bridge is only a problem if you don’t lean into the shot. You need to do that anyway to maintain proper form. FYI I have drawn and shot under the bridge when needed.

Anyone make a self bow? Trying my hand.

I've made many of Osage and Hickory as well as a couple Sweat Gums. Go slow, you can't put wood back on. As mentioned learn to bend wood. Rip a 2X4 to 1/2" and learn to tiller. That's the thing that will get you a bow and not blow up a lot of good staves. I of course did not do that and lost...

    Educate the ignorant, please!

It can come quicker than you think. Back when I first started 13 yards was my max and I killed deer. Though I can shoot well neat 30+ , I still take most deer at 15 or less..Good luck

    Educate the ignorant, please!

I really have little compound but 50 years trad and have helped a good number come over. The 3 piece just has more mass and is easier to control your front hand. However you can learn anything. Big Jim will tell you develop good form in the beginning and it’s a lot easier from then on..

    Educate the ignorant, please!

You’re coming from a compound history, go with the 3 piece. The extra heft will help you. I promise this is not your last bow. I have no idea how many bows I have tried and not sure how many I have. If you go with a longbow be sure its a 2 piece.

I’m impressed. She really kept it together. Most grown men can’t pull that off from the ground. Your doing it right. Congratulations

    What’s that rumble?

Jim is the man and does some crazy nice work. The only limits are your check book. They do come up used daily so you could one to shoot during the wait.

    Late season saddle tips

I make sure to have a hand warmer in each of my upper pants pockets and one at the base of my scull tucked into to my toboggan or turtle neck. Heat the main blood flow areas.
