    Full body harness with Saddle

I'm thinking of using my HSS full body harness with my saddle. Put the harness on first then the saddle. The lanyard strap on the back is just a little short to connect at the bridge. A 12" sewn runner strap girth hitched to the lanyard strap would probably give it just enough length to make it...

    Hitch cord for Canyon Elite

I had posted in another thread about struggling to find a hitch cord that worked well for my backup Rappelling with Canyon Elite and wanted to share what I found for anyone else Looking for the right cord. I wanted to be able to stop and start so the hitch needs to grab and hold and break loose...

Attaching a vest to a saddle

My merlin came with loops sewn on the top webbing strap. I thought this would be a good place to attach a Molle vest to hold the saddle up and give me a better place to hook my pouches instead of on the saddle. I'd like to get them closer to the front so I don't have to reach around behind me to...

    Climbing platform

    Checking stitching strength

Does anyone have a simple test method for checking how well your sewing is going to hold? I'm considering Making my own climbing aiders and would like to test them somehow just for peace of mind. I'll be using 138 thread and will sew in a boxed w pattern instead of using a boxed X pattern on the...

    Belay device

Doing some research on belay devices for rappelling and ran across this device I haven't seen before. It's called a Passive assisted braking device. I don't think it has any moving parts and works with a teeter motion. Lift the tag end of the rope like you would with a prusik tender and it rocks...

    Rope for rappelling

I've settled on a 30' length for my rope for rappelling. I think I'll start out with an ATC and a hollow block but I'd like to leave myself open to using a safeguard in the future. There are a lot of different ropes that will work. I'd like to find out why people like a certain rope over another.

    Hawk suction cup, peg replacement

This looks like they could be good replacement parts for the hawk sticks. I haven't used them myself and there might be a better alternative out there but I think urethane is a durable product...

How much rope needed to rappel

I see most people recommend carrying 40' of rope to rappel down the tree. If you use 6' of rope to go around the tree with your knot for the link and your 18 foot up in the tree, couldn't you get away with 30' comfortably.
