Smart watches. Let's talk about em.

It sounds stupid, but the flashlight is a game changer. I use it almost every day.

    2024 Off-Season Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

I was doing stronglifts religiously until last week. I tweaked my back and took some time off. I'll be back this week.

Smart watches. Let's talk about em.

I can't stand to have a watch that needs constant charging. The Garmin Instinct line is great for that. My 2x gets used hard and I charge it maybe once a month or so. Hoping the solar will lessen that more in the summer. Winter coats in WI= not much sun on the watch!

Still keeping up with the Stronglifts 5x5, doing some cardio on the side

    2024 Off-Season Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

I've been doing stronglifts 5x5. Not much of a workout at first, but it ramps you up slowly. I'm still at the early lightweight stages.

    2024 Off-Season Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

Mainly battery life/not having to recharge every week. The solar actually makes a difference to me during the summer (and that was on the old one, the 2x is even better apparently) I don't need the flashy full color face.

The 965 is nice, but don't discount looking at the instinct line. I had the Instinct Solar and just picked up the 2x and it's awesome. I had a Forerunner 645 previously and like the instinct better.

    TideWe 15%

Debating on pulling the trigger on one of their blinds for turkey hunting with the kids this year. Now that I have 2 that want to go at the same time my old chair blind won't work. :-/

Who of us brings too much stuff to the stand?

A backup tether is necessary IMO. I hunt enough trees with splits that I use 2 tethers a few times a season. Plus an extra tether gives you a self rescue option. I can 2t climb down with my extra tether and lineman's (turned into another tether) if I need to.

    Organization pouches?

What are you trying to organize? I use eberlestock's hanger zip pouches for kill kits and first aid. I have Custom Gear Modifications' roll pouch for batteries and other small stuff.

    Suppressor Guys

Form 1s are much more difficult these days. They really cut down on the "suppressor kits". I own 2 SilencerCo Omega 300s. If I were buying another can or my first can today I'd be buying the Scythe-Ti for a hunting rifle or the Omega 36M for a multi-purpose can.

    Hearing Protection

Auditory exclusion doesn't mean that you aren't damaging your hearing. Auditory exclusion is your brain not processing the signal. Your ears are still getting the pressure.

Eberlestock F1 Mainframe Probelsm and Solutions

The one side has a little hook to keep it up. I use a small binder and a dynasteel loop to keep the others up. I'll post a pic later this week.

    Hearing Protection

I'm going to try to send you down a rabbit hole. Put in the time and money to set up a firearms trust and buy a suppressor. I won't rifle hunt without one. No more ringing, shots don't echo, seems to confuse deer as to where the shots are coming from. It's awesome.

Eberlestock F1 Mainframe Probelsm and Solutions

40' of CIV and 40' of canyon elite (not at the same time. I'll take a pic after Christmas 99% of the time I'm using my EWO ultimate one stick. I got some Tethrd One sticks that I'll be using more. I too am tempted by a flatter platform. I'm looking at the Hunt Arsenal RZR or RZR Magnum

Eberlestock F1 Mainframe Probelsm and Solutions

I should mention that I use the multipack pouch on my hip belt molle for my madrack, rappel rope, pulldown rope, autoblock, back up atc, and hand ascender with foot loop. So that'll have to change if I go to the vapor and leaving the mainframe at the base of the tree...

Eberlestock F1 Mainframe Probelsm and Solutions

I usually bring the mainframe up with me. Early and mid season I climb with it. When it's cold and has all my layers strapped to it I pull it up on a loop above my weapon loop on the end of my rappel rope. I'm probably going to buy a vapor 2500 for my layers and might experiment with just using...

    Mobile Cold Weather Clothing

The Source is awesome and super warm, but there is no wind resistance. I love my Source jacket, definitely a good choice.

Best option to silence/reduce noise on carabiners??

I completely disagree with the caveat that I don't touch anything other than the body of the biner. My stealth strips aren't going anywhere and I inspect my biner at the start of every hunt. I like to use 2 stealth strips, one on the inside and another on the outside. Both have relief cuts as...
