    Hickory Creek Koolaid

Check to see if your rest is inline (up and down) with your nock, and check that your rest is inline (left and right) with your string. Field points are forgiving, broadheads aren't. I had to adjust my rest probably .030" to get my broadheads to fly straight consistently, but now it's working...

    Hickory Creek Koolaid

Just wanted to pass along my appreciation for your post. I was having same exact issue for the past few months but turns out with the horizontal adjustment - field points flying great, my new single bevel broad heads though were flying very erratically (lots of tail wobble). Because of your post...

Looking good. What's your 30 yard group look like? What broadheads are you using?

Chose to go with a small piece of wood. Easier to make and glue on. Gorilla wood glue for bonding. Works great. I took the safety lever off to give clamping pressure. We'll see how it holds up.

Ok, so here's another mod I made to the safety mech. I like being able to engage/disengage/rengage/etc with my index finger. Taking the safety off is no problem. Putting it back on not as easy. To solve this I added a small bump on the end of the safety lever - in this case I cut a very small...

For those looking for a sling for their hickory creek, i rummaged through the drawer and found a magpul ms1 and it works fairly well. Slung completely over the back, the butt stock hits on my leg, but maybe I need to tighten it up some. It works great to hold it in front of me for stalking and...

I got the 100 grain inserts from Ethics which are really nice. Pair those with a 125 grain broadhead, and with the limbs all the way down to 150, man this thing shoots good. Quieter also with the heavier arrows. Much less fishtail in the arrow. And the penetration is amazing.... :smile...

    Hickory Creek Koolaid

Just a quick update on my XB1 saga.. I shot both field point and broadhead out to 50 yards and both were pretty much on with the speed ring set at 265 fps, for all ranges 20, 30, 40, & 50. I highly doubt the arrow is going that slow, but for some reason that's where it works for my setup. Now...

    Hickory Creek Koolaid

Ok, so the plot thickens.... Got some 125 grain field points so I could actually match apples to apples hopefully to my broadhead which is 125 grain. Did my best to measure my arrow setup and I'm confident it's around 395/400 grains. Scope is Hawke XB-1 (1-5x32), 20 yard hashtag is first line...

I think the scope is really close to the string. Maybe 1/8" gap. I was dead on at 20 with a 125 single bevel (Alien Archery V2), but when I moved back to 30, using a speed of about 300 fps on the Hawke, the arrow was about 6-7" low. I didn't dare shoot at 40 yards as I was sure I would lose an...

    Hickory Creek Koolaid

Is anyone shooting 125 grain broadheads? And if so, do you know how fast the stock arrows go with the limbs tightened all the way down? I don't have a chronograph to get a measurement. Having a few issues getting the speed dial on my Hawke and the yardage markers to work. Thinking I should...

Why not use dynamic rope for one-sticking?

I'll be honest I had to look that up. I watched a YouTube video that made me question the guys sanity. I probably watched the wrong video. He had the straps wrapped around his thighs... it looked sketchy as heck. I assume one tether should be to your saddle, and then the other to climb with...

Why not use dynamic rope for one-sticking?

100% agree. No guarantees on anything. Just trying to stack the odds in my favor.

Why not use dynamic rope for one-sticking?

I'll still take a 30% stretch dynamic rope over a 5% stretch static rope fall any day. My math might be wrong, but 30% is 6X more shock absorbing than 5%, even if the amount of rope is 1 foot. The last time I fell it was about 3 feet (when the strap on my stick slipped out), add in the amount of...

Why not use dynamic rope for one-sticking?

Yes, you are correct also. I should have stated, "Aluminum carabiners which almost everyone uses, are not rated for falls using a static rope."

Why not use dynamic rope for one-sticking?

You are correct. How about "It doesn't matter as much when using a dynamic rope."

Why not use dynamic rope for one-sticking?

As a rock climber I've learned the difference between taking a fall on a static rope vs. a dynamic rope. The height of the fall doesn't matter on a dynamic rope as it stretches, that is not the case for a static rope. I hope to never experience a fall while using a static rope as my back is...

Big thanks to OP. Picked up a couple. My goal is to go all cellular in the next couple of years. It's a game changer in many ways.
