    Your 2024 Elk Hunt

The Garmin are what I would get. I'm leaning the Messenger as it connects with your phone through Bluetooth and allowed messaging. There is an emergency button to press as well. The Messenger also allows you to message and coordinate with rescue personnel, which is a great feature. Garmin owns...

I think if you're going with Onx it is the elite version. For satellite safety device there are a bunch of options. If it were me, I would go with the Garmin Inreach Messenger or the Garmin Inreach mini 2. There is also Zoleo, Spot X, and Motorola Defy Satellite Link to name a few. There are...

Gotcha. I started out marking a lot of stuff. But then it got to be too many points in small area. Mainly mark beds rubs scrapes. I used to walk game trails marking them but only do that in great areas now. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk

Is it an issue with your phone's storage or the app? I have some data in 3 different states and offline maps in all of the states. Don't want to lose it. Doubt I have a many waypoints as you though. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk

I used Onx in Colorado with the offline mapping feature and it worked great. As previously stated, I think they all have offline maps. Onx allows you to chose how good of quality you want the offline maps to be. I did 2 versions (user set) 5 mile x 5 mile and 10 mile by 10 mile. I've messed...

How did you cook venison today?

Took venison chops and thinly sliced them. Fried it in olive oil. Created a garlic, onion, mushroom aioli sauce. Topped it with provolone. Tossed it on some bread and placed it under the broiler. I should have taken photos. Definitely will make this again. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk

random idea for guys that sew: make better boot blankets

After a 5 mile walk in, do you change your socks when you get to your tree? I would recommend doing that too get rid of the sweat soaked socks. Then slip in the heater insoles. I don't use the insoles as my feet don't get that cold any more. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk

Best, quietest, rain gear , that won’t break the bank?

I've had two sets of the Cabela's silent suede. Both lasted a couple of years with little use and then rain comes through. I might have to try putting dwr on the outer material to aid it. I replaced it with a Forloh set and couldn't be happier. Not as quiet but it's been waterproof for the...

    Your 2024 Elk Hunt

One thing I would add is I bought the MTN Ops solitude. It is supposed to be designed for hunting and being at high altitude. I can't confirm if it works or is just a marketing gimmick. I do know that both times out I never got altitude sickness nor any symptoms. My buddy from Denver did have a...
