    Hot!!

I haven't been in my saddle since last February. Day before yesterday I set up sticks and my platform so I could start shooting from elevated position. 10 minutes to setup sticks in platform since I was rusty and had a couple branches that needed to be trimmed. I was soaked to the core in that...

    Sage samick advice

That is a great deal, can't beat a Sammick for an entry recurve. I have kept mine over the years as it shoots good and I don't mind throwing it out of trees when its time to climb down!

    TURKEY TURKEY TURKEY

Been tough season in Louisiana for me this year. Had some excitement for youth but hasn't gotten interesting for me until last Friday. Worked a bird for 3 hours, had him at 50-70 yards for over half that time but never got it done. Easter morning buddy and I got it done on a nice swamp bird and...

    Starting the Traditional Archery journey...again

Doesn't take long to spend $100 at Three Rivers. Killed my first trad deer out of a saddle this year. I truly felt like the baddest Indian in the woods that day.

    Fixed Blade Broadhead

I shoot QAD Exodus from my compound. With my recurve I am shooting Simmons Sharks. Takes some work to sharpen the concave blades but they are some of the best flying fixed blades I have ever used and they cut some serious holes in an animal! I too may be heading to Idaho next fall thinking...

    Louisiana Saddle Hunter's Thread

Have some buddies at the camp in Tensas this week. Last time I talked to them they were doing well. One buck down and a miss, that was a couple days ago so I am sure they are still getting after it. I may try to go first week of January if I don't tag out on bucks before then.

Sage Samick.... to good to be true?

I started with a 45# Sammick Sage when I decided to go Trad. It is still my second favorite bow behind my new Acadian Woods 3 piece Carbon Reflex Recurve. What someone else said, get the fast flight string. It's not a looker but shots great. The Sammick is a great bow and has taken lots of big game.

    Game Vests to Donate?

Know that area well. Killed my first wall mount and first public land turkey as a teenager in the Hunters Bend area. I still hunt the refuge at least once or twice a year. One of my favorite places to hunt, especially late January.

    Game Vests to Donate?

From the age of 12-16 my grandfather left a camper at the old Gumbo Acres campground in Tensas. By that time I had been squirrel hunting for years but that is where I really learned to hunt them effectively alone. Grandfather and dad would drop me off in a slough bottom and tell me not to leave...

    Game Vests to Donate?

No doubt, I try not to judge others but I see all these new hunters and kids that have never stalked and killed a limit of squirrels. I take pride knowing I can go in the woods and stealthy hunt squirrels and I know all that experience pays off when deer and turkey hunting. Now hunting them...

    Game Vests to Donate?

Would like to check our our squirrel page, squirrel hunting is a big part of my family tradition. Dad has taken a week of vacation for first week of squirrel season as long as I can remember. We don't deer hunt together much anymore due to different types of hunting but I do make a few October...

    Tethrd linesman rope

I started off with it girth hitched but I have since switched over to using a carabiner because I thought it would be useful to be able to unhook from either side, after making quite a few hunts on different types of trees haven't had to unhook from that side so thinking about going back to...
