    Linemans rope safety

I'm not sure Cantilevered is the right word? Not sure what the correct word is either, but that's not what I understand as cantilevered (supported on one end only)

Thoughts on Broadside Stands climbing platform???

I think Rube Goldberg helped design that thing.

The best (and cheapest) Saddle backpack

I just got this one the other day. I wanted something with a rigid frame so the pack didn't sag off my shoulders. I can't believe the detail and construction that went into this pack for the money. $10 coupon clip too. Supposed to be waterproof plus a rain fly...

    2 step aiders?

Go with a 3 step aider. The distance you space them is a function of your body size anyway, and a 3 step 15" aider would be perfect for you. You'll be able to have the top of your first stick around 7.5' high from the ground. If using multiple sticks you'll easily get 6.5-7' for each additional...

    No prusik tender

When he actually gets some weight on that tether he'll change his tune about how well that prussik tends with a carabiner.

    ROS plus Platform?

This is how I like them too on a separate strap. I've had my platform loosen up if I stepped on the backside step when on the same strap. With the ambush though I honestly don't use them that often because it's large enough to maneuver and shoot in any direction on its own.

    Cam cleat?

I drilled mine straight through several years ago, between the cam cleat bolts. I used an 8mm rope. I like to be able to see the knot and the ability to pull it through to check for wear. It's just good for peace of mind, but honestly I've not had any rope wear from the tube at all.

Best Place To Order Grade 8 6” Bolts

Tractor supply used to be a cheap place to buy hardware by the pound. They have gotten just as expensive as small hardware stores anymore. 3-4X what you'll pay online.

    My Feet Hurt

It positions your foot at that natural angle with very little pressure on your heels or balls of your feet. The closer your feet are to the tree, the less pressure you will feel in your feet/legs/hips. Compared to the angled front of the Cruzr platform, this is much better for me. Compared to no...

    Ambush Platform

I've done buckle-less with the stock strap many times. The Ambush is a great platform. I prefer the larger size over the Fix and the Seeker.

    Possible hip pinch solution

I honestly have ZERO hip pinch in my Cruzr XC whether I'm in shorts or bundled up in the cold weather. However, I have set up a second anchor point to keep myself centered on certain trees.

    Mixed reads on Madrock Safeguard

I've tried all different manners of getting up a tree, hunting, and rappelling........friction hitches, separate tethers, mechanical devices or not. I've settled on using my rappel rope for everything.....climbing, hanging, and coming down on the same rope with the Madrock. It just simplifies...

    Looking for an easy solution

The only thing I don't like about that is it doesn't allow you to work directly in front of you. With the belt attached to the hips it keeps the tree open in front of you and keeps your range of motion full.

    Quick link keeper

That's a binder clip......something you'll find in any office setting. It looks like it has the potential to make noise and get hung up on anything within 3' of it. I've seen all kinds of fanciness used for this purpose, and some will gladly fork over $16 for a little plastic clip, but I've yet...

    6mm trc prusik

There's many better options over the prusik. I was using a schwabisch, but just discovered the Knut hitch on here and I like it better.

    Friction Hitches

The Knut hitch is pretty sweet. It tends on its own, but is super smooth with a nylon tender behind it.

Is this knot, hitch safe ????

I fooled around with that hitch this evening and I really like it. Easily adjustable and cinches right up. It did bind down on my 8mm Resc tech though, to the point that you had to pull to the left to retrieve your rope. Pulling to the right just wouldn't give up the grip on the tag end for me.

    LWCG The Fix

I have a Fix and an Ambush. The Fix slides inside a standard backpack and locks up to a tree like a bulldog on a bone. The Ambush gives enough room to stand and turn completely around on to make a shot anywhere. The Ambush has some mushiness to it, but it doesn't bother me because I know it's...

    Rock climbing harness for hunters

I haven't read all of this thread, but I bought a $50 RC harness 10 years ago and added a tubular webbing Lineman Loop. I'm just not seeing these things as being revolutionary......the idea has been around a while. They are fine to lean in, but excruciating to sit in for more that 30 seconds...

    Grigri vs Madrock Safeguard

It's a Safeguard, and it does not slip on slack line as long as the tag end of the rope is lower than the device. It does not need to backed up.
