College, Car, and Home Costs for Our Kids

I have 4x young kids (all under 8). My wife and I have recently shifted from saving for college to sending them to the best private school that aligns with our values that we can afford. We made this shift on the heels of covid and the widespread education nonsense. At this point I think hard...

how to shoot a compound with no sight

Only question I have for any "no sight shooters" is what rests can you look around/ through? I shoot a biscuit and wonder if that gets in the way of the sight picture.

    Hickory Creek Koolaid

Yep fully aware, full blown trained and certified Dad RSO here, this would not be a toy, but a means to help my kids harvest deer since our bow (crossbow) season is 10x longer than gun were I live and I am at the mercy of public land (which further limits weapons). Thanks for the concern and...

    Hickory Creek Koolaid

Info requested= Can someone with a Hickory creek mini measure the length of pull (heel of stock to face of trigger) for me please? I have kids and have been on the lookout for an easy to maneuver youth crossbow, I would love to pickup a hc mini and even better if the kids could use it as...

    Friction Hitches

@John RB i am having trouble releasing the longhorn when I'm rappelling down, this could be my rope choice (6mm acc on 8mm rescue tech) should I play around with wrap count or try something else. I guess I got spoiled using a double meech setup. Do you have any advice? Also @Brocky i think...

'Fess Up, Who Hunts out of a Prius?

I wish I had a prius... I'm flat sick of paying $5.39 for diesel. My "commuter truck" is killing the wallet. If it wasn't paid for it would already be gone.

DIY cinching, retrievable anchor: JRB Cinch

Yes you would need to strip off all friction hitches and pull tag end all the way thru snap and ring. I have seen some videos of rock climbing folks set up retrievable anchors like this (i.e. the last person to rappel down sets up anchor like this so they can take the rope home.

    Most disappointing products you bought

Thats funny I love those biners. The Ohm tether locker was such a letdown for me. With 10 seconds of product testing you could see that the whole thing will slip through biners.

Looking for info on pistol for whitetail hunting

Is 45 long colt a nogo from a pistol? That is the closest thing to a normal hunting pistol I own. I would love to afford a 44 or something. Maybe I should stick to rifle or bow.

Seems like it would work on a cranford step, since this attachment is sort of like a whoopie

Is the High FOC IDEA good or bad for the hunting community?

I am a newbie (4th year bowhunting) and hope to get my first bow whitetail harvest this year. I have been shooting a bow since I was a kid and never bow hunted till now due to my lack of confidence, skill, and fear of non-fatally wounding a deer. Over the last few years I really got serious...

    The JRB Climbing Method

I don't see a question in the method, rather I think Brocky is questioning the tools (rope type). On a side note @Brocky or @John RB what carabiners do you find work the best for the munter? I have been running smaller Grivel plume twin gates and have some smaller mad rock screw gates. Does the...
