We've been working hard the past few weeks to come up with some big changes to our vendor policies to meet the changing needs of our community. Please see the new vendor rules here:
Vendor Access Area Rules
Problem:
The basics: Haulin' the hunting minimal essentials takes pockets, and my saddle cuts off access.
Solution: Pouch it like a man, a wise old man. When Smaller, Faster, Lighter is always the name of the game, comfort can take the back seat.
Wear it in, wear it hanging, or strap it to...
Thanks for taking the time to unearth those paws and get pics with weight uploaded. Much better presentation than what my search brought up.
How much foot hold do the paws feature? I'm going to guess 4" tube was used
Shot some flat black powder, but they were a lil clangy. Taped up, and DanO strap installed.
Looks like I gained 2oz in the process.
@always89y guess I should have put in them speed holes!
@mtsrunner I did some digging after you mentioned the paws, and found some pics, as well as the same...
Analysis paralysis.
It's the host finding the market segment that best resonates to their personality.
Just get some gear, and jabber about it.
Ya think you'd do just as well running a kids toys unboxing channel, or make up reviews?
I saw something about them in the early years of DIY section, mostly guys using PVC tubes. No idea what the actual manufactured product looks like.
Was there much bulk in the paws when carrying into the field? These little steps nest together pretty well, much like my V steps.
New strap and buckle from @DanO was the cure. No more sag or pull away, even on this wet day.
Time to fire up the powder coat oven and get a good hard finish on these.
I have some 1/4 and 5/16 round bar tool steel, and use it for points on fishing spears. So maybe fab up a spur for the bottom, if this OCB buckle from DanO doesn't tighten things up enough.
First draft. The bottom of the step was pushed far off the tree, and was rolling over too far when weighted. Maybe that design didn't work with a strap threaded.
Not much of a weight penalty in a kit of 4.
Might end up removing additional metal on the front face, because drilling holes to...
Problem:
The basics: Wheelin' and dealin' 360 degrees of death from above, on my climbing steps just isn't gonna cut it anymore.
Solution:
Poke around the SH DIY section for ideas. Get nasty with the plasma cutter, and a some aluminum plate from the scrap pile.
The design template I found...
Got a hold of @DanO for the local supply.
New ropes, biners, and some tenders to give a shot.
rigged everything up, and after a few test swings in the yard at ground level, and a single step height. It was time to climb.
quick test run in the woods after work to remember step spacing and...
Started off without a flashy name for this new tree diaper, and just enough webbing to get the job done.
Cut out a seat panel and got to work
I did some layout and a test fit with hardware installed for the leg loops.
Can't say that I was a fan of the mounting arrangement, or hardware...
Problem:
The basics:
Payed it forward with my last saddle at the end of the season. 2020 Honeydew life put a new build off until crunch time.
Solution:
Open up the tub of gear building supplies and start fresh.
I ended up with a slimmer design than my last build, and was reminded how...
