Unfortunate Events Lead to Missed Opportunities

It was in my climber days. Went out Wednesday after our opener to a spot i hadn't been. Climbed up, got settled. Look to me left and see feet coming, fast and right to me. I stood up, grabbed my bow and was directly under my stand. So I shuffled my feet to spin 180 degrees. Came to full draw but...

I really like the "mississippi pot roast" recipe with the front shoulders off of a deer.

Skinning Deer: Head up or Head down?

That's unfortunate. I would show anyone that wants to learn. I've also offered to travel to help people learn and had a side gig doing deer for some of my wife's family. It's not a difficult thing to learn, but a person really needs to be hands on to learn it.

Skinning Deer: Head up or Head down?

Head down if I haul the entire deer home. Legs are skinned on the tailgate and loose before getting hung up and the joints legs are cut off at the first joint. I grab and pull the hide with almost no knife work until it's time to take the head off.

    Aider problems

I'm too uncoordinated to be efficient with an aider. I'd rather carry an extra stick.

    Folding Saw

I used a cheapo Colman or Gerber for 5 or 6 years prior to this year. I ordered a Silky pocketboy mid summer and was blown away at how fast that little blade cuts

    Lighted Nocks...

Same.... In green. I have close to 50 shots on my "practice" nock. It's the only one I've had an issue with. It got rained on, along with 2 others and that one wouldn't fully turn off until I threw it in a bag of rice overnight. Non issue for a couple bucks each imo

    Do you eat the heart?

I like the meat eater recipe for heart. It has an espresso rub and bourbon-butter sauce. Not a fan of the liver

saddle vs stand strong man: idea for a video for someone with more gear than they know what to do with...enkriss this means you

My thought is you need a straight down pull. Pulling sideways will put uneven pressure on the stand. Which is likely to fold up like a tin can regardless of how you pull on it, while the saddle should be ok. My. 02 cents

ground venison- your preferred type/% for added fat?

For burger I like 10-15% beef tallow added, actually my wife likes it that way. I do like the way it cooks though. For summer sausage and sticks no more than 20% pork butt. For brats. I like them fairly greasy. I'll go as steep as 50/50 - venison /pork butt. I like at least 75/25- venison...

    Mantis

Comfort is subjective. I didn't have any issues with the mantis I had once I figured it out the settings I needed. I now just like the recon more. It's a personal preference. I would have no issues hunting from a mantis again.

Need to lift my rear end.

I had a 92 regular cab short box. Like your 96. There's a few different rear spring configurations for them. Most are a 4 leaf pack, mine was a 5. Not sure if it would be a bolt /unbolt fix but check some Salvage yards.
