    Top 5 best/worst gear purchases

It’s been a while since this was updated and I figured I’d add my two cents as I go through my gear to prepare for the season. Best Quality sticks: I have used Shikars for the last three seasons and they are awesome. Trying out the one sticks this season and so far they are great. Insulating...

"The official saddle hunting backpack thread"

The zippers for the top pouch and the little pouch on the inside are a little loud but not incredibly bad. The way my pack is set up, I don’t need to access the zipper pockets for anything except a tourniquet, my car keys or my wallet. The inside pockets and the side pockets are where I keep...

    Lumenok help...

I had nocktournals fail last year. Broke of when the arrow passed through a deer. I just discovered glory nocks. I haven’t tested them much, but so far they seem to be just what I was looking for. Guy at the local shop said they were made by the inventor or nocktournals. Sent from my iPhone...

    Last local buck tag

I missed the beginning of the rut due to work obligations. Started my “rutcation” on Monday. Yesterday, I set up on a pinch between a ridge and a creek. The morning started quiet. I was hoping to get in early enough to watch some of the meteors. However, the sky was just starting to light up...

    Lumenok help...

I just tried lumenoks for the first time and it didn’t go well. Nocks got stuck in the shaft and and wouldn’t turn off no matter how much wiggling I did. The instructions say to wax/sand the nocks to make them fit. Any body have any experience that might help me? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Hungry fat kid problems

Protein bars do a good job of keeping hunger at bay. Fruit snacks are another good one. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are good. If I know I’m going to be out long enough to eat, I put prepackaged food into ziplocks. They don’t make as much noise as wrappers and are more convenient. I would...

    Early season success!

I haven’t hunted there, but I have fished there and scouted it. Nice area. I’ve heard that story. It really shows the dangers the wardens have to deal with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Early season success!

Might be talking about beaver brook WMA? If so, I live about 3 minutes from there. Took my first doe there. That place gets a lot of out of state attention because of how close it is to route 6. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Early season success!

The fishing is a big part of why I stayed out here. The outdoors and rural area makes the rest tolerable. Plus, it’s a good place to raise kids. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Early season success!

It is not what I expected when I got orders here. I spent my last 3 in the navy at NRMD. Got a job and stayed despite being a west coast kid. The only thing that sucks here is the taxes. Lots of hunting pressure and limited land, too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Early season success!

I got one 7 days into the season here in Connecticut! It seems as though fall has come early and the deer are moving. This is my third year hunting and my third deer. I am very thankful to everyone on this forum and other resources because I started hunting late in life with no mentors. My...

    Carrying shikar sticks

I would like to carry my Shikar sticks into the woods already set up. Does anyone have a better way to do it than just stuck together? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    OOAL sale INCLUDING SHIKARS!!!

These are fricking awesome. I bought four. I can get higher with a 5 step aider and two of these than I could with 4 hawk heliums. They are so incredibly light. I won’t even notice them on my pack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Shout out from CT

I’m in CT, too. This was my first year in a saddle. A saddle makes a big difference here. Opens up a lot of options as our deer get pressured. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Apple Watch design feature that detects when you encounter a shooter

It said over 120 but when I looked at the peak for that day it was mid 170s. That’s pretty high for me. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Apple Watch design feature that detects when you encounter a shooter

Had one walk by and played the stare game. Unfortunately, no shot. Came home and my Apple watch thought I was having a heart attack. It showed an alert where my heart rate was over 120 beats per minute with 10 minutes of no activity. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
