What gear upgrade (if any) will put more deer in my freezer?

I finally got my stimulus check and I want to at least put some of that towards hunting gear. I’ve got all the basics (pack, one stick, few trail cams, kestrel saddle). Just want to put another deer in the freezer this year. What would you spend your extra $$ on for that? I’m leaning...

    One sticking vs. 2TC

Searched and didn't see a thread like this. Who here does/did both? Which do you prefer and why? Which one is better for trees that have tons of limbs on them (i.e. removing and reconnecting lines at height multiple times throughout the climb)? Seems like weight savings from 2TC would be...

Need book recommendation for post-season blues

Deer hunting is done here in Tennessee so I’m looking to do some reading while I wait for the sun to come back out and for turkeys to start gobbling. I really want to improve my scouting. Anyone read any great books that changed the way they scout? Non- scouting specific recommendations also...

Anyone load a follow up muzzleloader shot from saddle??!

I am about to try to practice this tomorrow as I just sited in today. Have no clue how it’s gonna go. Obviously my goal will be to load one before I climb up and of course make the first shot count. But there still remains the possibility I will need a second shot. Be it for a follow up on a...

    Magnus Broadheads positive review

I went through several broadheads this summer, fixed and mechanical trying to find what flew best from my old Hoyt that I picked up on Craigslist. Stumbled on Magnus Black Hornets and these things flew exactly like my field points. Even truer than mechanicals. Shot a deer with it a few days...

Bullman silent approach steps + DanO OCB straps = awesome

After coming to the easy conclusion that lugging 4 sticks around the woods sucks, I bought silent approach steps on the classifies here and have been practicing for last couple of weeks. I liked everything about them except how on certain trees with rough bark they would slip a lot and scare...

    What’s your Preseason checklist?

I feel like this may have been posted before but I could not find anything quite like it. Only reason I am posting is cuz I have this nagging feeling I am forgetting some preparation or step for success this season and I hate that feeling! My checklist is this right now: A. Weapon set up...

    Plastic Stealth Steps??

Has anyone tried these? I searched on here and could not find mention. Look a little scary, but always open to new ideas. Does not look like much weight savings over a Wild Edge or Primal step. Not even close to competing with Squirrel Steps, etc for weight.

    Squirrel peed on my head

Had climbed about 20 ft in my backyard was shooting some arrows when I felt a jet stream pelting me in the head. Looked up and saw a baby squirrel about 2 ft above me just letting it fly. Please tell me I’m not the only one who has encountered this!

    Cellular trail cam tactics

Hi all, curious if any of you are actively using or going to use cell game cams. If yes, what is your tactical plan? I am curious how y'all use them for finding new spots as well as active real time scouting during the season (like actively going after a specific buck, etc). I am a newb deer...

    Saddle time in Middle TN

Hey all, what an awesome forum. Y'all have so much amazing content on here to digest, it's making it hard to focus on my day job. This upcoming season will be my first for saddle hunting and I could not be more pumped for it. Thanks for all your hard work on this site and selfless sharing of...
