    Nutterbuster and Scooby-Doo

A couple of counter points... 1) Early to mid 2000s was when the head gasket issue really became a thing 2) The front wheel bearing on my Baja is pressed in. Instead of using a slide hammer and replacing a hub/bearing assembly, I'm going to need to use a press. 3) The top mounted oil filter, in...

    What's going on at AeroHunter?

AH Shrike and Merlin now on closeout, along with all of their other offerings. Iunno, on the fence about the Merlin. Doesn't really seem like an upgrade from my Kestrel.

    Automotive discussions

Earlier this year I used the fully assembled KYB struts on my Legacy GT, so that I didn't need to worry about compressing the spring. Just jack it up, unbolt, rebolt, align. KYB is the OEM of Subaru's struts. And then I traded it in for a new WRX because there were other things that were wrong.

    States with traditional blackpowder seasons

Moved up near Moraine state park. Just picked up a Lyman frizzen. The one that came on the Renegade is destroying all the English and French flints I've got. I'll just need to find my file and fit it in.

    What's going on at AeroHunter?

I always wondered if AeroHunter was intended to be a homonym for Arrow Hunter.

    States with traditional blackpowder seasons

Picked up a TC Renegade the other day. I have a Traditions PA Pellet, but wanted something a bit nicer. Didn't get to hunt at all this year, and haven't gotten a deer with a flintlock yet, so I might put more time into it this year,

Anyone run a pistol on saddle?

Another layer of confusion to this mess, is that while OC is OK generally while hunting (if you have an LTCF), if you're carrying in a State Park, it must be concealed. To not derail this thread for the non-PA folk, I did try my Safariland MOLLE plate (6004-8) on a single row of MOLLE webbing...

Anyone run a pistol on saddle?

Same thing in PA. Need your LTCF, and needs to be a firearm covered by that (LTCF doesn't cover standard long arms, unless you're counting things like SBS or SBRs). I think there are dual carry allowances, if both weapons are valid for that season.

Anyone run a pistol on saddle?

Safariland also has MOLLE panels that you can mount your QLS receiver to. I have one mounted to my Kestrel.

    2022 Turkey Hunting Thread

Got one of those (and an Ithaca Mag 10). Never got a turkey with it. Darn thing is heavy enough to turn my legs numb after setting it across my lap in no time... Someday I'd like to take it out again just to get at least 1 bird with it.

    2022 Turkey Hunting Thread

I've been liking the Knight and Hale Run n Gun 300. Still has a seat, holds everything I need, but still fairly streamlined.

    2022 Turkey Hunting Thread

I have the Affinity 3 20ga turkey gun. I was originally looking for the M3020 turkey gun, but I couldn't find it anywhere at the time so I went for the Franchi instead. My biggest gripe might just be on paper, but manufacturer spec to manufacturer spec, it's a whole 1.2lb heavier than the...

    Hey Siri, shoot that buck.

    Suspenders

I use my lineman's belt. Add a carabiner to a MOLLE loop above your butt crack. My lineman's belt is tied on my left loop, so I grab it with my right hand, throw it over my right shoulder, down my back, into the carabiner, over my left shoulder, into the right hand lineman's belt loop. Carabiner...

Backstrap - oven or stove top

If you ever get bored and want to read about meat cooking science and techniques, I'd recommend https://amazingribs.com You can really get sucked into a rabbit hole there.

Backstrap - oven or stove top

Reverse sear. Aim your oven to around 200-230F (measure it if you can). Cook in oven until meat is ~110-115F. Remove from heat. Get pan as hot as possible without causing your family to attempt murdering you due to smoke alarm. Use high temp compatible fat source, such as ghee. Sear for about a...

    For God's sake….more than one “doe” is “does”……with a “s”

I do want a Yeet Canon, if they ever actually sell them.

    For God's sake….more than one “doe” is “does”……with a “s”

So I have no preference between yinz, yins, yuns, or youns, ever since moving here. But I do know the right word is yous.

    All Repelling??

I had rappelled using multiple sticks before switching to one sticking. To me, climbing down at the end of a hunt, when it's dark, you're tired and your toes are frozen, was always the part I was most nervous about. Rappelling was a much more comfortable thing for me to do. Not without it's...
