Hunted hard, scouted hard, my first year of public land hunting yielded harvests of knowledge but no harvest of deer. Next year I will have way more time to invest.

Ordered a Recon, how has everyone improved upon it?

I flipped the plates, this did 2 things for me. Made it more comfortable and helps hold my EWO fleece pouches in place. I removed the leg straps and I'm engineering leg loop ideas in my head. Still not so sure I need them. I've found as long as I don't allow slack in my tether and bridge I don't...

    Team 6!

I hit a wall this year for the first time ever during hunting season, where I just did not want to hunt for any reason. I missed my traditional Halloween evening hunt, and my annual Thanksgiving morning hunt. This weekend has me climbing ladders and step stools hanging lights, pulling them down...

    CLIMBING PLATFORM WITH JX3 HYBRID

You are correct. I just wanted to not spend the $ last year and still get my feet wet in the saddle game. Glad I did, but my bank account has suffered!

    CLIMBING PLATFORM WITH JX3 HYBRID

Last year, I used a climbing platform with my diy saddles. This year bought helium stick and a scout for top stick. Much, much quieter. I even stealth stripped, spray foamed, and bed lined the climber platform. It is noticeable quieter than stock, also, noticeable heavier than stock. Working on...

    Saddle beginner

I love my recon! Its comfortable and lightweight. The double panel system doesn't fall as bad as others have stated, at least not in my experience. I have hawk helium I put an ooal scout on my top stick as a platform. Its nice but on longer sits its not a friend of my feet. I use a muddy...

    How to setup

To me, picking one trail to shoot to has been hard. I've always wanted many shot opportunities. That being said, those trees usually do not have the cover you may need and usually force you into some sort of thermal hub that plays into the deers advantage. Im forcing myself this year, at least...

Update.... saw 5 this morning. 3 doe 2 buck. Couldn't get a shot on the 7 pointer pushing 2 doe. Couldve easily killed the spike, but, he was so small and pitiful at 2 yards breathing like he just ran a decathlon. If I'm a mile back on public, I'm not carrying a spike out lol.

Good Lord willing, I'll be back on the oak flat were I missed the buck 2 weeks ago, as the sun is rising. I hope this time I can get the job done whether its a doe or a buck.
