Must have crossbow features vs fluff

After watching 2 of my friends with Ravins bust their scopes by losing their grip on the crank, I am thrilled with the ACUslide crank on my Tenpoint. It is a must have going forward for me.

    Fixed Blade Broadhead Recommendations

I am shooting the 2" SEVR at around 390 fps. I love them. I am not sure I would even consider a fixed broadhead for my crossbow at this point.

    Gordons permethrin 10 smell

I used the elimitick clothes 3 or 4 years ago. It is great and had no perceptible chemical smell. I would say the tick repelling properties last at least 3 seasons depending on how much you wash it.

    Mantis

I am 5'9" and 180. I have only used the Mantis. This will be my third season with it. I think it is comfortable. I do prefer using the back band, especially on longer sits over 4 hours.

What do you do with your rangefinder while in the saddle?

It goes in a pouch on my bino harness/chest rig.

    Gordons permethrin 10 smell

That's what I use. Definitely has an aroma for the first couple of washings, but I haven't noticed deer reacting to it any more than they would to me... Play the wind!

I have never seen four like that before

    Yes to all.

    Help on a pack!

I have the Pintler and the Pop-Up. For dayhunts or weekends in the whitetail woods, I find the Pop-Up to be the one I always take with me. It is definitely easier to deal with in the tree.

    Tennessee Velvet Season (Aug. 27-29)

Very true. Heat wasn’t really a factor or me. It was in the low 90’s here. I was sweating pretty good while still hunting my way in, but once I set up, it was pretty pleasant. I do have a high heat tolerance though. I can do 15+ minutes in the sauna at 190. My cold tolerance is not as good...

I got out, but saw no deer.

    Ground Blinds For Deer Hunting

I really only use a ground blind when I have a youth hunter with me. I much prefer just leaning up against a tree is sitting in a turkey chair in a bush.

    Permethin dilution

I use the 10% concentrate. I agree with the math the others have provided - 19 oz. of water to 1 oz. of concentrate. That said, I use 18:2. I have a for of the alpha gal allergy. If I get a tick bite, it could be a year before I am able to have red meat again assuming my reaction isn't more...

    Catoosa WMA

Ahhh. Good call. I don’t get over to the east side of the state to hunt. I’ve always been told that to bear hunt effectively over there you either have to scout quite a bit or run dogs. Spot and stalk won’t work because it’s so thick. Again, that’s what I was told… All that in mind, I don’t pay...

    Catoosa WMA

Can't see how bears would be a problem. A Tennessee license includes a bear tag (at least the resident license does)!!! I've never hunted that part of the state, but I am eagerly awaiting quota hunt results for this fall... Catman is around here occasionally and on TNDeer.com too. He may have...

Looking to link up for a CO OTC archery elk hunt

As much as I hate it, I am out for this season. Just put in a new heating/ac system yesterday. Can’t say it was a total surprise, but it definitely blew the savings account up. Next season will have to be my time. Good luck and keep us all posted!!!

Poll - How accurate are you with your compound bow, Part II

I said 60. Last year I was very diligent and deliberate with my practice as I got ready for archery elk. I wanted to be effective to 60 yards, so I practiced regularly at 80. My first shots of every practice session the month before the hunt were at 80 or more. All that said, I had the range...

Post season workout encouragement thread! 2022 EDITION!!!!!

I swam competitively 35 years ago (high school), but nothing like this. I am by no means fast (40 minute / mile), but after training for it for the last 3-4 months, I am pretty confident. My only concern is this is open water in a river. Downstream at least. I am also a little anxious about how...

Post season workout encouragement thread! 2022 EDITION!!!!!

Got out Sunday morning and knocked out 6.5 miles running. Monday was another mile in the pool. Last night I banged out a 4 mile run after work. Cycling class tonight. Another run tomorrow and a mile in the pool. My first triathlon Sunday!!!

Poll - How accurate are you with your compound bow?

I put 20 yards, but I would take the bet out to 25... I usually stop shooting my bow after the close of archery season in November and don't pick back up until March or so.
