    If i hunt close to bedded deer i only hunt on 8mph winds. The leaves moving covers sound and movement to an extent. Otherwise i hunt 400 yrds away from bedding areas. I don't have the jungle you traverse, athough dry ground clutter is tough too.

    Tree size and growth have a part in kickouts. Never had any on basketball straight trees. The one i added straps to was 7 inch diameter and a split tree with a twisted grain.

    I have had stick kickouts. Using xstand sticks. The only time it happened to me was climbing down. I was on a small tree and put weight on the right step. It kicked out and slid down a foot.     Why not just use a loop and center link to the rope. Maybe not as tidy as scaffold knots but pretty much the same as girth hitched.

    I don't , i did sew a loop on one side and passed a rope through it. When using in the tree i can wrap it around me and tie the rope around my waist.
