“P” bottle or let it fly?

I once watched a show where the guy tried to zip line into his ground blind. That’s all I could think of when reading this. Hysterical!

No guys, nothing that special. Just cut a lot of “stepping stones”, which is a log sliced into about 3” thick discs. Falling leaves will blow right off of them, so it is quiet, even when the leaves are crunchy and avoids ground disturbance. I once had a doe follow me in and I was thinking she was following some scent or something I had on my boots and was already planning on some serious cleaning when I got home. When she got to the stepping stones, she lost the trail, that’s when I realized that she was smelling and following the ground disturbance when I walked.

Im one of those paranoid scent control types so I use a bottle. However I did read a study a while back that concluded human urine had little affect on deer. The study is mentioned in various websites. I pulled this from American Hunter:

5. Peeing From Your Stand Will Scare Deer Off:
The old wives’ tale has it that if you do not bring along a pee bottle to your stand and answer nature’s call on the ground below, you may as well head for the house and find a new spot to. Research has shown, however, that the smell of human urine does not noticeably affect deer, if it affects them at all. One research project with penned deer had the researchers spraying all sorts of things into scrapes to see which deer liked best. In one case they used four things—buck urine, doe-in-estrous urine, human urine and car air freshener. Results? With bucks, doe-in-estrous was the most popular, followed by human urine, then car air freshener, then buck urine

Take it for what it is.

I pee from my stands all time and every mature buck I’ve killed was less than 10 yards from the base of my tree ...it has zero effect on the deer imo.

Not only do I let it fly but I've even had the girlfriend fill some scrape drippers for me. Otherwise I'll pee in one and then find another I'd like to mark but I'm empty.. good to have backup pee!

i have often peed in scrapes without seeing a negitive effect. But one time was curiously humorous cause when i checked it a few days later it was dug out so deep you could use it for a fox hole. wish i had a trail cam vid of him working on it! lol

Let it fly. I lost my first opportunity at a buck peeing a bottle. peed in a scrape last year and buck was spelling the scrape and wasn't the least bit alarmed. Every deer is different though.

They say you can pee in the scrape as well and the deer like it....never tried myself though

I have my own thoughts on this, not sure if they are correct. Always wanted to ask this to a bunch of other hunters. What’s everyone’s thoughts, “P” in a bottle or just let it go from the stand??

Pee bottles not needed...pee in a scrape...hang a camera then take note what bucks like your aroma

Wise saying... "Always hunt the wind, but never pee into it".
And don't mess around with Jim...
I saw this and thought this would become a serious DIY on Saddlehunter....LOL
Is the hunting market really geared toward complete morons or what? I would be afraid I didn't follow the directions and forgot to take the bottles out first.....

PT Barnum said it best. Sucker born every minute. Let your pee flow. I pee in a mock scrape near my barn many times per year. I get tens of thousands of pics on it.

I always get a laugh over guys that carry their pee around in a bottle. That’s pure self humiliation there. Just don’t drink out of the wrong “water” bottle. LOL
