So has anyone tried replacing the WE ropes with mule tape? I was thinking of how to loose the bulky ropes and get something with less bulk only problem is mile tape can't be spliced that I know of and will have to have a knot made to attach on one side but the same pattern for the WE knot works the same

I don't have any WE steps but I use mule tape for lots of things..... Give it a shot....I bet it will work just fine. Only negative I can think of would be how the mule tape frays up easy and once frayed it clings to the tree bark sometimes too well

And picks up everything else.

I didn't think about it fraying up and catching up on stuff! I tried it out and it worked good not sure on if it's the best but also considering amsteel

I have not used it in a hunting situation. But playing with them in my garage. I like it

Not sure of the pound strength but I used 3/4” on mine all season. Worked great. Only dislike is that it catches on briars easily. And I want easy on it, I would rip it free and kept using it. But it’s so cheap to replace once chewed up that I’m going to use mine till it’s gone. I use it for my pull up rope as well. It doesn’t tangle as easy as paracord

How did you fasten the one side to the step? I tied a over hand knot just to see how the stretch was when camming over step seemed to hold well but would want to trust in that well using for hunting

I can’t honestly remember what knot I used to make a small loop and then I just girth hitched it through on the one side.
