2 blades, who shoots them?

I’ve shot at 12 deer over the last 3 years with 150 grain Magnus stinger (true 2 blade) and 10 never ran further than 15 yards and piled up. Other 2 were not recovered due to high shots but I was able to track the blood for at least 300 yards before they hit 6 foot tall briar thickets and lost em. Even though those weren’t successful recoveries it shows that these skinny two bladers have a decent enough blood trail. I’ve also never had one fail to penetrate. And Magnus will replace for free if damaged. Taken advantage of this before. It’s awesome.

Here is a Magnus stinger I used years ago before moving to single bevels. This was a transition phase between the mechanical broadheads and where I am now. I got a good blood trail with this hit, and I think a large part of that was where the exit was located.

I grew to like the Magnus stinger Buzzcut with the bleeder blades. The "Bleeder blades", in my opinion, help with a blood trail in that they cut an X shape in the hide that helps it stay open. Here are a couple of examples of the 2 Blade Buzzcut with the bleeder blades. These are entrance wounds. Neither of these deer made it 30 yards.

Here is a buck from 2018 that I took with a Magnus stinger buzzcut. I shot him in the shoulder on the left side at about 18 yards. The broadhead stopped after poking through the offside hide. The buck took off and broke the arrow shaft off. The buck made it 120 yards up a hill into a mature pine stand and collapsed in an upright position. I gave him 30 minutes and followed him up and found him easily with a good blood trail. Magnus makes good broadheads.

I believe you. But I’ve never had a heart shot deer run out of sight.
I've had em run pretty far. Especially if they have downhill terrain. My big buck last year ran easily 150 yds down and halfway up another ridge. I hunt a lot of hilly and thick spots and 10 yds from my shot they can be out of sight.

That's sort of been my overall experience and feeling about pure heart shots. From what I have seen they tend to run until they lose consciousness. This was a small sample though. The buck above in post #44 was what I would regard as a heart shot.

only shot i regard as a heart shot... is a shot through the heart. easily identifiable by the large wound through the heart muscle when field dressing

I can't say I've ever had a true heart shot that I'm aware of. Severed the aorta on a buck two seasons back that ran 30 yards before death. Friend of mine put a slit in the very bottom of the heart of a 5x5 bull in colorado. Ran 200 yards before death.

I heart shot a buck with a schwacker bout 10 years ago. I didn’t get enough penetration for the blades to even hit the heart, just the tip punctured the heart. He died about 50 yards away and didn’t leave 1 drop of blood

I have used two blade but single bevel for last couple years. I use the Kudu 125 heads. Killed several deer, Turkey and a coyote. No issues finding the game. I got a set of 150 cutthroats to try this year got a deal on them off AT classifieds.

Magnus Serrazors (though they do have the bleeders but really are only “two blade” by construction.) on a 465gr arrow,18% foc w a 27.5” 62 pse evl and other similar bows in the past.

They do a great job. Got lost one to a high strap hit but I don’t think any head would’ve changed that.

Good blood trails. I also sharpen and resharpen them. Fly great, relatively quiet and very consistent. Love the magnus warranty.

Have had good luck w Helix and Easton XTs back in the day. Prefer these over magnus stingers.

I got sucked into the expensive single bevel game for a couple years. im runnin Magnus 150s now. If i didnt ruin the head beyond repair in one shot maybe i would get some again, but so far i havent fount a steel that doesnt chip or bend. GrizzlyStik was the worst so far. havent tried VPA tool steel but doubt it can take rocky soil And im certainly not finding out if a Bishop actually lasts. I mean i might as well buy a new bow every time i hunt too lol.

IF magnus gets on board with a single bevel head i think they would absolutely kill it.

I have used Magnus before and definitely killed deer and found them with no issues. I didn’t use the two blade version but I’m sure would be the same results. I would like to see Magnus do a single bevel head for sure. I do like being able to resharpen the heads and them not be junk after one kill/shot. I haven’t had an issue yet with the Kudu head. As for Bishop heads or others up high on the price scale no thanks not interested in that either.

VPA single bevel are tough as ive seen.. and lifetime warranty with top notch customer service... and if you are close to them they will show you their shop and how they are made.. dont think all broadhead manufacturers can show you their shop
