Well its official, the 2019 Saddlehunter.com deer contest has come to a close. First I want to thank @redsquirrel for hosting this event and also for letting me be scorekeeper for the contest this year. It gave me the opportunity to see each and every deer kill posted in this contest and to participate in every team thread offering congrats. There were some really awesome deer killed from the saddle this year and I got to re-live each and every one of them with you. Awesome job guys/gals and a sincere thanks to each and every one of you for sharing your seasons with the rest of us.

So after an extensive audit by an independent accounting firm (yeah right . . ) here are the results.

Honorable mentions to Team 4 and Team 12 who kept it a close race. For the record, Team 12 is a “rookie” team and they really rocked it hangin’ from a saddle in their first year. Congratulations guys on outstanding seasons.

Now, Congratulations to the winners, Team 8, on a magnificent effort this year. They really brought it home. Aside from being a bunch of natural born killers, these guys bonded as a team. For example, they had 39 pages of posts in their team specific thread (over 750 posts). The next closest was my own Team 9 mates but even then we only managed 17 pages of posts. When it all boils down, the camaraderie is what this contest is all about and Team 8 has completely succeeded there and have blown the rest of us away. I tip my hat to you guys. Congratulations on a great season.

For me personally, I’ve found that this contest has pushed me to get out and hunt more, even when the conditions are marginal. My heart always says “let’s go!” but sometimes my almost 60 year old body and mind are saying “what . . .today???”. This contest has served as a tiebreaker on those days and helps push me into the woods. Thanks to my own Team 9 whose members I have truly enjoyed sharing the season with. Thanks guys, it was a blast!

I’m already looking forward to next year’s contest.

Had to go back and find this comment from @Arrowsquirrel. Makes winning even more satisfying!

I bought a ropeman off of ole @huck72412 a couple years ago. He promised me that it had been infused with so much @huck72412 and trophyline greatness that I was guaranteed to kill a booner. I didn't kill a single deer that year.

I sold that ropeman this summer and added two deer to the winning team this fall. Just sayin.........
