2019: Public Land Challenge

I listened to that this morning on the way to work. They said both Dan and John said they'd be willing to sit down and do a podcast together... could get interesting. I personally like hearing their opposing views on scent control. John is a SC freak and Dan is the complete opposite. I (and I suspect most guys) fall somewhere in the middle. I don't use sprays or carbon clothes but I also don't wear my hunting boots until I hit the woods and don't spray Deep-Woods-Off all over myself before walking to the stand like Dan does. haha.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall when Infalt and Eberhart have a conversation about scent control

For those of you who havent heard it yet, Down South hunting Podcast did a 3 part series with both of them about their scent control philosophies. Part 1 can be found at the bottom of this page.

I listened to it. It was good. The difference between that podcast and them being in the same camp together is that the interviews were done separate. I would like to actually hear the conversation between the two of them. Not because we don't already know how they feel about it, but I just feel like it would be entertaining. But there's no doubt about it they're both top-notch when it comes to killing deer regardless of their scent control system or lack of.

@g2outdoors mentioned I’m the contest thread that he was hunting in Michigan with John also. May not be the same week but who knows.

I cant wait for this. All are good hunters and can get it done. My money is on dan, joe and Aaron. Aaron has been very good the last 2-3 years of getting opportunities at big bucks, just hasn't sealed the deal as much as he could have, but one of these days he's going to get over that hump. I'd love the chance to just sit around that campfire and soak up everything I could.

Dont get me wrong, I'm right there with you about wishing i could be there for this conversation or just hoping i could pick up some of this deer knowledge through osmosis. Hopefully someone ends up just putting the camp talk up on there channel. Just wanted to make sure people saw this podcast in case they missed it.

I seriously want to know when & where this is happening. I'd take 'em a 2-4 of beer just to sit around the fire with 'em. Maybe some of their hunting mojo would wear off on me.

I've met John, and heard him talk briefly about Dan's tactics... You wouldn't need to be a fly on the wall in that room - you'd probably hear it in the next room over. Then again, we were in a loud place, too.

What would be educational is what happens before the hunt. The scouting trip. How they narrowed it down to those dozen or so places they scouted. Why they decided this is the place to sit and this is how we are going to get there. To me that’s what separates the average guy from those more successful. I think I can sit in a tree and wait as good as anyone. Killing deer is relatively easy. It’s everything else that put you in the position to kill deer that I really need to work on. I know Eberhart and Infalt do their workshops but it would be nice to do a side by side comparison of how they decide this is where I’m going to sit and when.

I really hope we can keep this thread from going down that road, this thread is to highlight the different methods in hunting pressured whitetails...:sunglasses:

I hope they don't take any of my spots! But I assume they'll be hunting the north part of the lower peninsula. So much more public land up there. Wish I could participate, need to up my YouTube game so I can get invited next time :)

I believe they all will stick to their guns on this one and provide good footage of the process and why they are doing what they do. I don't care to watch kill shots or even real hunts on video any more, it's only the process leading up to the hunt that interests me.
