2020 Broadhead choice?

I see some twislers and flappers on here, lol.
These threads get funny. One guy does this, the other does that. We all trying to get the same result, but take different roads getting there. At the end, we want a dead critter, but some wants the shortcut, while others study the route they they will take.
Yea, someone is scratching their head saying "what is this guy talking about!" Others with wisdom will seek the knowledge that I'm basing this from and fulfill their quest.
Gonna be honest here and say what?? Feel that there is enough evidence on any head to say "yeah this makes things less alive than they were prior to being arrowed". What is the shortcut? Because we all want that. Worry if I misunderstood your post but it left me confused being i have killed deer with everything from a muzzy to a grim reaper. And end result everytime was blood trail with a critter at the end. Any help would be awesome.

Magnus 4 blade stinger buzzcuts and black hornet ser-razors. Can’t tell you about a deer but nearly lost a finger to one of those buzzcuts a couple of years ago. And the rabbit I shot didn't go 5 feet. I have some Rage hypos and Gravediggers too but not trying to carry 4 different broad heads in my quiver. I can see that conversation in my head trying to decide which arrow to nock, lol.

How are the black hornets? I’ve wanted to try them, but i wondered if the steeper angle wouldn’t be as good at penetrating as the more gradual stinger.

I’m thinking about trying some reapers this year. Do you have a lot of experience with them?
Last year was first year with them. I used the fatal steel thinking they were tougher. Could just be marketing.
They did improve the system so you don’t have that spring to watch out for when you take them off.
I shot a doe that was as extreme as quartered away as possible. It went in right in front of back leg and came out just in front of opposite side front shoulder. She went 30 yards and was spraying best trail I’ve had even with my Rages. I like how they are cheaper than Rages, come with a practice head, and seem to match my field points perfectly. Plus I still have like 8 of them so not spending more $ after all this saddle gear!

The "twizzler, flapper, child arrow" thing makes me feel bad. I wish I could reshoot all those dead deer I killed with sub 450grain arrows and 10% foc and kill them deader with an adult arrow. Put that 500 grain hemi behind a 200 grain single bevel 30 dollar broadhead and plunge it 10 feet deep into the earths chest through that 150lb mammal that was broadside at 30 yards.

Nah I'm just foolin

Shoot what makes you happy and what you shoot at dead...

"One more question to ask yourself, if you was given a choice, with no other options, would you rather be hit with a feather going 100mph, or a bowling ball traveling 30 mph."

I think a more mathematical comparison would be getting hit with a 12 lb bowling ball going 30 mph vs getting hit with a 8 bowling ball moving 40 mph....Point being, one may have more momentum, but both are more than capable of putting you in the dirt.

I tend to agree with the heavier arrow idea, and personally am moving that direction. I take time to tune and build my arrows, and enjoy the tinkering of it. However, I also believe that you can go pick up any inexpensive bow, pre-assembled arrow, and broadhead of your choice, and ethically kill deer with-in 40 yards.

I don't believe that just because one way is effective, another is ineffective. I firmly believe patience, accuracy, and woodsmanship will get you much further than anything you can do to your arrow.

Because the time I have to hunt is precious, opportunities are limited and when I let go of that 644gr 22%foc arrow, it’s going to go all the way through. I can’t afford a “bonk”, oh no what happened? Why is the arrow still sticking out of the deer?
