One month from tomorrow, I can start introducing the local sus scrofa population to the unholy power of a 40 grain projectile moving at 2,000fps. One month after that, and I can start harassing the local eastern woods goats.
Pine goat fever is a real illness, I’ve got it again this summer.

Pulled cards yesterday. Had this guy show up, dang good deer for the public where I’m at... I’m super Hyped up now!!

It was cloudy and 71 this morning so me and a buddy went and scouted a piece of public. Ended seeing 7 bucks and found some decent sign. Now I'm tired and gonna go lay down lol. Also I found the holy grail of a hickory tree grove and seen a bunch of squirrels in there, should of had my 22 with me this morning. Screenshot_20200801-105949_Samsung Health.jpg

Our hickories are starting to drop here and there. Mainly the squirrels are still on cypress and tupelo. Saw one last weekend dragging a mushroom the size of a basketball up a tree.

They were starting to cut on hickory on july 4th, I met a buddy that morning and we killed a handful. This morning they were hitting water hickory hard and shagbark a little, should be real good in there in about 3-4 weeks. I didnt notice any sign around the cypress and tupelo this morning, but I wasnt around but just one here and there. This place was damn near solid hickory with the occasional oak tree. Did find some persimmons and plum trees too

Our big trees down on the river are 95% tupelo, cypress, hickory (mostly mockernut, but with some shagbark thrown in) and red oaks. Some of these squirrels on the island act like they've never seen a person.

Looking forward to cruising around in the motorized canoe with the .22 mag here in a bit.

I just got a new to me 17hmr from a friend for some welding work that I done for him. I plan to give it a thorough test on some squirrels soon. When I finally found that hickory grove I bet i could of killed my limit of 12 in under 45 minutes or so. Should be even better once all the hickories get ripe.
