2020 shed thread

Even awesomer

I was surveying in Aiken county back in the early 2000’s and found a leg bone with a small Reebok next to it. Picked the shoe up and dumped it out to make sure it wasn’t housing a collection of tarsals and metatarsals. It wasn’t, so I called my coworker over and showed him. Then I took the leg bone and proceeded to terrorize him with it.

Now, I gotta day, I felt like it was deer bone and the shoe was merely a coincidence.

Co worker was freaked out by the bone so I would put in the prism bag, in the glove box, in the console.....all over the damn place and ask him to hand me something that’ll put if it’s hiding place. He freaked every time and I would grab the bone before he could do anything with it. One day I had just scared him with it when the county surveyor showed up to check out progress. As soon as my coworker told him about me terrorizing him with a leg bone he got all serious. I wound up having to show him where it was found, etc. while we were walking back to the truck a deputy pulled up. Come to find out they had a serial killer in the area. The county surveyor’s wife was an HR lady and the plant where he worked and she had to counsel him a couple times for sexual harassment so it hit even closer to home for him.

The deputy took my bone and never returned it.

This is the guy....

He killed a girl that was in the Army and the Army didn’t take too kindly to that so they brought the big guns in and found him.

Went shed hunting yesterday and instead found these two dead heads within a couple hundred yards of each other on a small urban property I hunt. Would’ve gladly shot either one last season if I would’ve had the chance!

No sheds, but I did find a dead horse on state land LOL. I think it’s a horse... it could be a giant whitetail doe LOL. I guess this is what you find after looking for 9 hours straight .View attachment 25827

i mean how in the hell.......hahaha

ive found some weird stuff but that tops any of it.

i was walking around a horse farm a couple weeks ago looking for sheds and wondered if i would stumble onto something like that

One of my buddies found a human skull. He wasn't shed hunting, he was bow hunting and he noticed something from the stand that looked like a bone. He checked it out and it was human. A slew of agencies proceeded to comb every inch of the property looking for evidence...helicopters, quads, dogs...they pounded the place. Completely screwed the place for hunting that year.

jeebus. that tops everything. If he knew it was gonna screw things up u think it coulda waited til feb 1st?

EHD or CWD problem?
Did you find all 3 on the same property?
Yeah but my guess bad shot placement or maybe fighting or got hit by car. But 2 ofthem were always from any road. This was public hunting land. Was down there a couple years ago on first day of gun talked to some guys, 1 guy said I thought I saw one through the brush I unloaded but couldn't find it. Happens alot. The brush he was talking about is thick. I didn't even go first day gun this year. Usually I go down first day with my bow and head into the thick cover a couple hours before daylight, stayed home this year.

Found this matched pair today on public land, pic on the truck is one of those, that g2 is just over 13 inches, saw that buck twice this past season and found his sheds in the same spot I saw him the two previous times
He should be a real nice deer next season. Good luck on him. I would love to have the sheds to a buck i kill. Hang em up by the mount or put a little mantle underneath it

That’s what my plan is, I actually gave them to the younger man that was out with me. He’s in his early 20’s and had never seen a set side by side like that so I gave them to him. But we have an agreement that if I kill that deer I get them back to do just like you posted because I have never done that before. He was pretty stoked about getting them though

Found a few more. Check out the cyst pocket or tumor on that dead head. He must of had that for a long time for the bone to grow around it. Probably the cause of death

The old lady wooped my butt last day out. Found both of those sheds in the first 15 min. I found zip that day

My wife is weird about eatin meat now. Shes arrowed a few deer before the hipster vegetarian fad came around (after 3 yrs still eatin leaves i guess its no longer a fad but at least she never dressed like a hipster). but shed hunting is fun for her because no "animal with a face" gets harmed. She doesnt understand im also prospecting for bucks to kill next season....but what mamma dont know dont hurt!!

Lol. We did not find any sheds however we found a few buck beds and major trails. Then we found a dead 4 point..
