So just to update guys as to what went wrong on my climb. I had one sticked up tp about 20 ft. To alliviate the problem of having my tether/repel line slide down the tree i had put a double wrap around the delta link on my girth hitch. My 0lan was to repel down, the SRT back up, which i did successfully. I hooked up my pull down line and repeled down, but forgot to take the double wrap out of the delta link. The girth hitch lossened a bit before the knot on my pull down line slipped off leaving my girth hitch stuck about 15-18 ft up and at a very severe angle. I attempted to SRT back up to fix the situation when the girth hitch finally slipped and down to the ground we both came. In hind sight i should u
Thanks for sharing, how are you recovering?

Looks like I'll be nonweight bearing for 6-8 weeks and i should be getting the staples out off my foot and thigh on thursday. Thanks for all the concern and well wishes from all of you. Any questions or anything that i can answer about what happened let me know.

Thank you sir. Im already feeling much better. Been using crutches around the house to get around. I cant wait until thursday to get this giant temporary cast off my foot and the staplea out, and hopefully get the OK to start PT. I'll jeep you all posted best i can.

Sorry to hear about the accident. I'm glad you are healing well. Thanks for posting the specifics. I SRT up a girth hitch around the trunk sometimes and always thought it seemed secure. I don't use a link but just rely on a figure eight loop. I'll make sure to double check my hitch.

I had a similar situation hunting last year. My pull down rope snagged a broken branch as the girth hitch dropped hanging it up. Since further tension on the pull down rope only pulled up and further tightened the hitch I was left with no alternative to go back up after it. Luckily I climb with a separate short tether so I was able to just leave the rappel line hanging. Once up I re-positioned the girth hitch and transitioned back over to the rappel line. Another reason I keep a separate tether for climbing.

Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery and your spirits are good. Hang in there and let us know how you're progressing. Continued prayers for a speedy recovery!

Good to hear and I know what
it's like to be nonweight bearing. Using a Walker can really tired you out . They made me do laps in PT and it drained me. You are young witch does help so hang in there and good luck . Keep us post as you progress with your healing.

So ill update everyone in more detail when i can get in fr9nt of a computer. Its hard for me to do on a phone. I did fall attempting SRT, about 12 feet onto right hip and foot. I have displaced calcanus fx that will require surgery in a few weeks when the swelling goes down. I fractured my femur that they repaired with a titanium rod, and a L1 burst fracture in my spine. All in all it could be worse. Thanks to all those that were there for their help a good wishes. I hope it didn't put to much of a damper on the day. I already have plans for somethings for next year. If you have any suggestions on things we could have done better or differently please let me know.
Just read about your injuries. Good luck and wishing you a speedy recovery.
