Best wishes for a speedy recovery...

Not that I'd want it to happen in the first place, but if I had to pick a place to get into an accident, being surrounded by people that can help isn't a bad one.

So, we did have an accident, it involved SRT climbing. He is in good spirits, and broke his right femur which requires surgery. He should be going under the knife today.

As far as the incident, I can't give you ins and outs of what he was doing, what went wrong, so when he feels up to he can let everyone know.
I know this sucks, for him, however I'd like to use his misfortune to hammer home the importance of safety, precaution, and understanding your gear. Not that the guy did anything wrong, & I don't anything about SRT, so if anyone has questions, they have to wait for him to be comfortable talking about it. As one could imagine, along with his femur, his pride is pretty bruised up as well.

Be safe, be silent, be ready! Happy hanging!

Prayers for a full and speedy recovery.

He is out of surgery all went well with pins and screws etc. He may even be going home tomorrow. I arrived after the fact, but from what i was told his repel line was stuck and he tried to free it. We might have to here from him to get the correct version. Just glad the surgery went well. If I here anything more i will let you all know.

Thanks for the report.

So ill update everyone in more detail when i can get in fr9nt of a computer. Its hard for me to do on a phone. I did fall attempting SRT, about 12 feet onto right hip and foot. I have displaced calcanus fx that will require surgery in a few weeks when the swelling goes down. I fractured my femur that they repaired with a titanium rod, and a L1 burst fracture in my spine. All in all it could be worse. Thanks to all those that were there for their help a good wishes. I hope it didn't put to much of a damper on the day. I already have plans for somethings for next year. If you have any suggestions on things we could have done better or differently please let me know.

@GWHGoat - So sorry to hear about your injury ... Glad you’re on the mend now. If it was going to happen, you’re really lucky that it was when you were with others who could immediately help, and not alone at an undisclosed hunting location.

If there’s any lessons learned wisdom you can pass along to the rest of us who rappel down, please share it for the benefit of the community when you can. And keep us posted on your progress.

Good luck on a speedy recovery!

Thanks for the update. As others have said, if you're gonna take a fall better to do it where others are around to help. Prayers for a speedy and full recovery.

Thats what I'm told. Final sewing was supposed to have been done if he received some material that he was waiting for.
Its not a sling.
Product discussions should be done on the product sub forum.
I will keep you guys informed as best as I can.

So just to update guys as to what went wrong on my climb. I had one sticked up tp about 20 ft. To alliviate the problem of having my tether/repel line slide down the tree i had put a double wrap around the delta link on my girth hitch. My 0lan was to repel down, the SRT back up, which i did successfully. I hooked up my pull down line and repeled down, but forgot to take the double wrap out of the delta link. The girth hitch lossened a bit before the knot on my pull down line slipped off leaving my girth hitch stuck about 15-18 ft up and at a very severe angle. I attempted to SRT back up to fix the situation when the girth hitch finally slipped and down to the ground we both came. In hind sight i should u

In hind sight i should have used a separate tether or line and should not have attempted to climb with the girth hitch at such an extreme angle. I guess some of us just have to learn the hard way. I want tobthank everyone who was there and helped with not only my situation, but help keep the day going after i left. I apologize id it put a damper on the day. Next year hopefully ill have some more time to plan thing out a little better and do a few things differently
