2022-2023 Duck Thread

First year duck hunting I had a single shot 20 gauge and no waders, decoys, or calls. I fetched them up with a kayak or a long stick on the creek.

I have spent several thousand dollars since then, but haven't really had any more fun. I'm too proud to say it, but it's conceivable that I don't kill any more birds either.
I had a pair of pvc stocking foot waders from K-Mart and a Winchester 1300 pump 12 guage. We could hunt with lead shot back then so I had a MEC jr that I would load shells with. I still have the reloader.

You ever want to part ways with that MEC you shoot me a pm. I'll take it. Same goes for that 1300. They make a great turkey gun paired with an indian creek choke.

I sold the 1300 years ago and still wish I hadn’t. I’ve been thinking about swapping the MEC to 28 guage but haven’t thus far.

My son and I did a new video on what I think was Remington’s worst design. Not that it was terrible but a bit unreliable and heavy. Check it out. I’ll probably end up duck hunting with it. Thanks.

Was able to make an afternoon goose hunt new years eve. Just bought a rogers sporting goods 3 man A-frame blind. Took two of us two hours cutting Johnson grass with hedge trimmers to get it brushed in.

I finally broke down and camouflaged my “yamahammer.” It was a tough decision but I used plasti-dip. Hopefully if I change my mind it will peel off.

Made a quick after work hunt with a buddy. Think we scratched 7 out of two flocks by the end of shooting time.

So...who all has owned the Sitka Timber pack? I hate the idea of $240 for a frame less pack, but I can timber hunt almost every day if I feel like it and it looks perfect for holding shells, a jacket, a thermos, and my gun. Really dig the tree strap with the gun hook and the duck straps.

No waist belt and no frame or even frame sheet, I'm out.

As much as I love my duck boat I still relish the quiet time in my canoe. Hopefully I’ll finally get into some birds tomorrow.

So I sprang for the sitka timber pack

First thoughts are it's really well thought out, but ridonkulously overpriced. Holds coffee, shells, headlamp, and a jacket perfectly. The timber strap and gun hook work like they should. I can get to everything easily on the tree. The duck straps are nice. And I was able to modify my jerk rig decoys so I can strap them to the pack.

It's a really awesome grab-and-go rig for timber hunting wood ducks. Dang near perfect. It just has no business being priced $240. Half that would be about right.

So you bought a high dollar coffee carrier that holds decoys? Sounds like a no shame coffee thread post. Lol. Nice pack, I like it.
