It doesn't have petals like a conventional wad. The fins in the back act as a brake and slow the wad as the shot continues forward. Is the wad on the fed tss “flight control” supposed to open? After shooting mine the wad is still closed.

I have the Affinity 3 20ga turkey gun. I was originally looking for the M3020 turkey gun, but I couldn't find it anywhere at the time so I went for the Franchi instead. My biggest gripe might just be on paper, but manufacturer spec to manufacturer spec, it's a whole 1.2lb heavier than the Stoeger M3020. My hope was to have a super light, easy handling 20ga, something that I could basically handle one handed if possible. Don't get me wrong, at 6.7lbs, I still saved a solid half pound over my SBE2. The thumbhole stock also prevents you from using the standard QD swivels on the stock end, requiring you to thread the sling through the stock.I see a few guys are shooting the Franchi Affinity 3 shot guns. I've been looking at pulling the trigger on a new shotgun and have been looking at the Affinity 3. Any of you guys that are using one have positives or negatives to share on it?
That wad looks normal. When I shoot Federals out of the IC, those tabs are chewed up a lot more than that. I do get the best loads from Apex and really liked the extra heavy load of Boss Tom in the 20ga.This was the wad after the shot. It hit the ground hard enough to fill part of the wad with dirt. I don’t know enough about this wad I guess. Just seems off to me.
I know what u mean i have one like that too. I bought a basspro brand one last year in the kanati camo and its not as bad i think those colors blend in the best for early spring in my areasCan anyone recommend a good leafy suit? One that is colored of both sides of the leaves. Some have the gray look and I’m not a fan.
I use a Badlands bino harness with a camo Camelback. Bino harness holds calls etc. and the Camelback holds obviously water and other small items like my diy turkey tote, license and extra shells
I couldn’t take wearing a vest any longer. One I was carrying way too much stuff in it. I feel so much more streamlined this way and much more comfortable
Yeah leaning up against a tree isn’t great but I usually take it off if I’m setting up and have time to do so. Pretty quick and easyNice. I experimented with something like the camelback, but i didnt like leaning up against the tree in it.
I realized how little stuff i actually need to carry and how gargantuan my vest was in comparison. And it was super hot, late season around here is brutal and the vest was baking me from the inside. Now i just run the chest rig, and if im goin on a big hike ill bring a fanny pack with water/lunch/ etc
Plus, the chest rig can be ran seamlessly with the jx3.
I got away from a big vest pretty quickly. Now I run a Alps Long Spur. Minimal vest that has a detachable Fanny pack. I’ve considered a messengers bag of some kind.
That’s awesome, you’ll love the move to both. Once you realize how little you actually need to kill a turkey is freeing. Excited to hear what you think after a hunt or twoI’m going to try ditching my vest this year. I was using the knight and hale run and gun 300. I just had so many pockets I don’t use. I’m going to use my Bino harness with pocket attachments and should be able to carry all my calls along with my binos.
I was toting a 10ga last year. I made the jump to the 20ga side. Going to see how it performs. Half the weight of my 10ga!
That gun is purrrrtay! I also need to look into sumtoy mounts. That looks pretty low profile compared to my egw mount on my vinchiI’m going to try ditching my vest this year. I’ve got the marsupial harness. Rigging it up to carry 3 pot calls and a box call. I also am adding a kifaru hydration pack that attaches directly to the harness. Should carry all I need. Calls and water. Maybe a light jacket. No seat but I’ll manage. That’s awesome, you’ll love the move to both. Once you realize how little you actually need to kill a turkey is freeing. Who makes that 10 gauge?I’ve got the marsupial harness. Rigging it up to carry 3 pot calls and a box call. I also am adding a kifaru hydration pack that attaches directly to the harness. Should carry all I need. Calls and water. Maybe a light jacket. No seat but I’ll manage.
Thanks! I haven’t even got to put a shell thru it yet. The sumtoy mount is pretty nice. Doesn’t get much better. Here’s the 10 I was using last year.
