2022 Wisconsin meetup?

I'm game to meet up and bring my saddle and stick for others to check out. As mentioned earlier think it would be best to choose a date sooner rather than latter so new users have a bit time to dial in their set ups before opening day. If looking to do a meet up during an archery event, Blackhawk Bowhunters Archery Club posted this for 2022 3D archery shoots around Wisconsin:

side note: if anyone in Wisconsin has experience in coyote hunting, would love to meet up and go on a hunt with ya. Trying to step out of my comfort zone and be a little more extraverted and make some new friends.
The only reason my Sussex meetup is aligned with an archery event is because they agreed to allow me to have it there. Before that, it was a total PIA trying to work with local park authorities (cost with reserving space and required liability insurance). I didn’t have an option in the area on private land.

@TexaninSconny offered to host us at his place which is down by Racine. He and I are exchanging some messages about that option.

Would a move farther south to Racine cause anyone to opt out that would otherwise consider coming to Sussex?

Or are there any other offers to host that are more centrally located? Just trying to gauge how far people are willing to travel.

I’ll work up a google survey tonight and post a link here to collect some input from the group.

The first 2 priorities are to identify a location and a date and the rest can come together over the coming months.

Buck Rub in Pewaukee, WI has an indoor and outdoor 3D range. This may be an option. Also an indoor bar and large seating area for hosting events.

Okay fellas…I’m in Racine. Happy to host an event earlier in the year for those that can’t make it in August. Thinking possibly late April/early May. Open to feedback on the date. Probably go from 9-3pm on a Saturday.

If this works I’ll plan on smoking some meat, have some sides and drinks. Maybe just like a $10 entry to cover some of the food/drink.

Edit: @ofor saw your post from tonight after I posted this. I’ll wait to hear results from the Google doc you are working up to see what works best for the most people.

For the guys in NW WI, this might be another meetup thread to watch. May be closer for you to hit a MN meetup than travel to SE WI. Although, the MN thread is just a bunch of guys expressing interest so far with no one signing up to organize it…
Minnesota Meetup?

Quick update, I tagged 65 guys above and as of tonight have only gotten 12 responses to the survey so far.

Maybe the Duluth/Superior area would work for some folks. Any interest there?

Hey just wanted to throw this out there, but I am a member of Blackhawk archers. It’s a pretty sweet venue and could work great for a meet up! If you guys would like I could talk to our board and see if we could set something up? I forget when our dates are for shoots but know we have at least one or two to choose from. Lmk what you guys think!

I only ended up getting 13 responses to the survey I linked above so the level of interest is half of previous years going in. Not everyone that responds ends up showing up either. Been busy with my youth trap team and haven’t had a chance to work on planning a meetup. I’ll publish out the results from the survey this weekend.

If anyone is interested in attending but hasn’t done the survey yet, hit the link above by Friday.

Will try to get this moving again.

You might get a greater response rate if you offer a date and get a rough headcount. Would also make it easier for you to decide if there's enough interest to host. Thanks for offering. We also have ofor's Aug 27th event if nothing earlier works out.

With the lack of responses to Ofor’s survey we just assumed we’d stick to an August get together. But if some of you guys are local (SE Wisconsin) and want to try out anything I own I’m happy to lend it out, or teach you what I’ve learned in my very limited time (just last year) saddle hunting.

I checked tonight and the response count is up to 17. View the raw survey results.

In addition to @TexaninSconny initial request to host, there were a couple of additional responses (@astanker and @Bwhntr4life) that responded that they would be willing to host. Thanks for those offers! If @Bwhntr4life hosted us, that would put the meetup in the Hancock area which would be a more central location for the group in general. He also responded that an earlier date would be preferred.

@Bwhntr4life If you are still willing to host, the first order of business is to toss out some possible dates that would work on your end. Then we'll see how those date options line up for the majority and get the specific date locked in. We can work on identifying who has what saddle, platform and sticks after that. As long as attendance numbers are more than 10, we should end up with a pretty good variety of gear to try out.

Lining up demo / giveaway items from various companies can happen once the date is chosen also.

Even if we do the central meetup, I may still host a SE meetup in Sussex in late August because I like offering the saddle demo opportunity at my local club during their annual open house shoot.

As of this morning, I haven't seen a response from @Bwhntr4life to the above post or to a DM I sent so no progress on planning an earlier meetup.

I was planning to host the one in Sussex in August again but have also gotten feedback that late August is not ideal for the guys that are just getting into it since there are lead times to buy once you decide with some of the manufacturers. Saddle lead times are pretty short these days but not always the case with sticks and stands. @TexaninSconny remind me, where are you located? I am open to a change of scenery and am willing to help organize since I’ve been through the rodeo a few times.

a little more on my past meetups. I held them in partnership with Sherwood Forest Bowmen in Sussex the weekend of their annual Bowhunters warmup open house and 3D shoot. The nice thing about that setup is they take care of food, beverages and 3D course and we just show up and hang out, show off our gear and then if people want, they can head out and shoot the 3D course / eat / drink. I didn’t charge anything for the meetup itself. As a bonus, people coming for the open house had an opportunity to check out saddles before or after shooting the 3D course. Last year, @DanO from EWO was there and Rob and Rick from Hunting Beast Gear were there. Both supported with giveaway items. Chad and Jerry from CRUZR came up one year and Chad has continued supporting with saddle and a seeker giveaways. Mark Dohring has also been a regular and supportive with giveaway Items.

It really is a fun time. We have had around 25 people each year so pretty much every commercial saddle, stick and platform out there have been represented at some point.

my boys and I attended last year, it was awesome!

They sell tree stands there I think it would be highly unlikely they would want to have a tree saddle event there.

Quick question is there going to be a demonstration of one sticking and rappelling down the tree? I am already doing the one stick method. I plan on practicing the rappelling down the tree this summer. For the record I already saved alot of one sticking and rappelling youtube videos but I would like to see it done in person.

If I am able to attend I’ll have my setup.
