2024 Contest Rules

Rules:

Eligibility:
Any paid member of Saddlehunter.com (SH Member) is eligible to enter in the contest.

1. The kill must be out of a saddle style stand, any legal weapon is allowed.
2. Whitetail, blacktail, mule and sika deer are permitted.
3. Does are worth 5 points, bucks are worth 5 points + 1 point for each antler point 1 inch or longer. A photo of any questionable points is to be provided.
4. Only 2 deer are allowed per person, one of which may count as a buck. You may submit a second buck in place of a doe for 5 points. So you can enter 1 buck and 1 antlerless deer, 2 antlerless deer, or 2 bucks, but the second buck will only count for 5 points. You may upgrade your buck as many times as desired.
5. A photo of the full body of the deer with the saddle visible is required to be posted in the official deer contest thread for submission. If you have 1000 posts or more you do not need to include the saddle in your photo, we will take your word on the honor system.
6. The contest will end on February 15, 2025. Any deer killed prior to the official start of the contest will be accepted if they meet the above criteria.
7. The team with the most points wins.

Remember, the contest is just for fun and to inspire some camaraderie among fellow saddle hunters. If it pushes you to hunt a little more often . . . great, but don’t take it too seriously, it's all about having fun and sharing our successes and experiences.

First of all, Welcome to the 2024 SaddleHunter Deer Contest. I wish everyone a successful and safe season!

Ok contestants, I'm going to repeat this post from last year because it seemed to work.

By far the most overlooked rule during the course of the contest every year is including your saddle in your submission picture. There are easily 10 entries every year that miss this simple detail. In fact, it actually altered the final winner one season. The team I was on finished in second place (with no help from me for the record) but we had at least three entries disqualified for this rule. Please consider this as the final friendly reminder.

5. A photo of the full body of the deer with the saddle is required to be posted in the official deer contest thread for submission. If you have 1000 posts or more you do not need to include the saddle in your photo, we will take your word on the honor system.

Remember, its a saddlehunter contest. We'd like to see photos of your saddle in the submission picture. I get it, we're all excited after the kill and little things can sometimes get missed but, you're remembering to take a picture to submit for the contest, please remember to include the saddle in that picture. If you have to go back and track the second day and you're not wearing your saddle, take the saddle in your vehicle and drop it in the photo next to the deer. If you forget to take the saddle out on your tracking mission, take the picture when you're home with the saddle dropped in. Thanks in advance.

For those of you who've already killed a deer and taken your picture this year we'll let it slide but 9/20/2024 is the end of the grace period.
