2025 Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

Here ya go. I’m registered. Who’s joining? Good luck with your goals this year!

Wow!!! Is that 50K spread out over the whole weekend, lol.
That sounds like a great challenge, I wish I had that kind of stamina…. Maybe I’ll be ready next year.

I had been doing well this summer through October - running 50+ miles per month. Then I barely broke 15 in November, and only did one run in December. Today walking Miss Fuzzypants, she wanted to run. After 100 yards, I was sucking wind. Time to get back on the trail. I seriously doubt I could do a 5K and might not even make a mile. I've also gained 14 lbs since Nov 11. Deer season was not kind this year. (or last year now...)

did you try those exercises I posted in the other thread? Made a big difference for me.

symptom was knee pain but the issue was weak glutes.

Wifey and I are building a massive library hearth for our living room and spent a lot of vacation lifting and maneuvering 4x8’ sheets of plywood and stacks of two-bys.
Kung Fu on Monday, Tuesday I did some MMA, tonight I have more MMA, and Friday Night Light(sabers).
Also bought the wife a walking pad for Xmas, probably gunna re-watch Vikings and put a mile or two on that while the kids are preoccupied.

later today I have an 8 mile easy run.
tomorrow I have 4x10min at 7:20 pace
Saturday is 14 mile easy run
Sunday I go on vacation for a week and who the heck knows

I did strength training upper body this morning and sit ups. I also did some jogging in place for a warmup. I really want to get back into running but I'm not starting that until the season is over. I can't afford to get sidelined with knee issues. Also, I'm getting the diet back on track for the new year.

My fitness goals for new year are: <5 alcoholic drinks/wk, lift 3x week (ideal goal would be bench 1.5x bw, squat 2x and deadlift 2.5bw), get a weight sled for sprints, learn about longevity and invest in those habits/diet/mobility to aid in. Happy new years everyone.

Strong work everyone! Glad to see a new thread for the new year. Yesterday was a recovery day for me, had a bit too much fun celebrating New Year's with my girlfriend so managed a 2ish mile walk with the pup yesterday and ready to start chipping away at my 2k in 25 running goal today. Treadmill miles to start it off since I've got my kids here today/tomorrow.

I need to look those up again. My legs aren’t “weak” but weakness is definitely the issue leading to the soreness IMO. I’ve done some of the knee ability zero which is basically body weight exercises to strengthen your legs and I highly recommend it I just need to work more of all kinds of those exercises into my plan. I’ve slacked a little bit over the last couple of weeks so when I have time for a workout then I feel like I need to run. When I get more workouts in a week it’s easier to work the extra strength stuff in. I need to reprioritize the importance of those those in my brain but I like stacking the miles too much

Posted this and then went and ran 8.5 for my best 10k time ever. Tomorrow’s my birthday, I’ll be hunting. Saturday is my son’s birthday and Sunday we’ll be traveling so unlikely I get any runs in those days. Possible I do some knee work though so felt like a good day for a run. Man it’s miserable out though with the wind.
