2025 Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

Promoted to team lead (read manager without the title) this year and my gym time tanked. I used to be able to go mid day, not anymore. So although I still exercise I am not actively in the gym. 2023 I was my fattest ever going into fall, at one point touching 230 at 5'8". Last I checked the other day I am riding right around 183. Hope to see sub 180 by fall. Mostly its diet and I really laid off beer, it made me feel like ass more often than not so the juice wasnt worth the squeeze. Most days I am probably 1500 calories roughly. At first, it felt like I was starving. Yesterday I was at a track meet with my son, watched a 7th grader run a 5 min mile!!! I ate 2 hot dogs at lunch and never ate again the rest of the day. This morning I had a small piece of some waffle the wife/son were making and then I never had much else until I just had two pieces of pizza for dinner. Point is, you can still eat damn near everything you want if you just pay attention to frequency and amount. Instead of eating a 12" sub, eat the 6" I promise after 10 mins youll be plenty full and not bogged down. You cant outwork eating like a mad man.
That is a big change, congratulations on turning it around. Hopefully you can find some time for the gym at some point.
Stay true and congratulations again!!

Got to turkey hunt Wed. and Thursday after work. Didnt hear a bird either day but got in 3.5 or so miles each day. Friday afternoon weather cut me off after work and only got about1.5 in. Saturday was almost 6. Yesterday worked out here at the house. 5 rounds of 15 push ups, Sandbag squats, DB hang cleans and a short sprint maybe 200 yards.

Saturday: ran 16, busted butt to get to my nieces birthday party on time, got home to prep fishing rods and flag football plans for Sunday

Sunday: up early go grab a fishing derby spot for the kids, fishing derby 8-10 in insane wind and 0 fish, flag football coaching 10:30-12, event to support our friends 1-3:30, wear the dog out 4-5:30, earliest bedtime in a while because I felt like I ran multiple marathons this weekend lol

DOMS has hit today but the knee is feeling better. Gonna take today and tomorrow off. See how the knee responds to a little tempo Wednesday and then an easy run Friday. Supposed to do the Frederick half this weekend but signed up virtually. Hopefully the knee is feeling good and I can PR that

I've had a rough few weeks with some personal ****, but I haven't stopped working out!

Did 4 miles yesterday with a 15 min ride after. Today is a warm up ride followed by PT and then bis/tris.
Sorry to hear that but strong work still getting after it. I know when I have had personal stuff going on in the past there wasn't much that could improve my mood like a good sweat.

Got a yellow fever vax yesterday for an upcoming international trip and humdinger my lower back hurt like crazy today. Thought for sure I screwed myself deadlifting Saturday (which was weird because Sunday felt fine) until my wife (also vaxxed) came home and said “Hey, does your back really hurt?”

Opted just for a walk today instead of a workout. Maybe I’ll try it tomorrow if my immunity rebounds by then.

Got my tempo run in last night. 1M warmup, 2M tempo, 1M cool down. Middle 2 at 7:37, 7:27. Legs felt good during it. Fet a little residual something in my knee to start but it went away as I ran so hopefully all clear. Legs were still feeling it after the run though and the new shorts weren’t kind on my balls lol. Easy run tomorrow. Still trying to figure out if I should do a half this weekend or wait. Looks like I’ve got until 5/30 to do it and getting it done over Memorial Day weekend would make the schedule a little easier. Done this training block though so need to get another block on the schedule.

Easy 3 this morning. At 2 and a quarter I felt a little something in the knee again but again went away. Probably shouldn’t run the half Saturday but think I’m gonna send it and see what happens. If it acts up then I’ll back off and at least attempt to listen to my body
